France, Australia pledge long-term Afghan commitment

KABUL, Afghanistan — The leaders of France and Australia met Afghan President Hamid Karzai separately Saturday, renewing their commitment to the country for the long term. Nicolas Sarkozy, the first French president to visit Afghanistan, signalled that French troops would not pull out of the country any time soon.
