Anthony B from Sydney, NS, Canada writes: "I urge the Government and people of Pakistan to continue to reject all forms of violence....."
"Continue to reject?" When, in the 60-year history of Pakistan, has there not been violence, tribal conflicts, religious strife and corrupt governments?- Posted 27/12/07 at 4:31 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

sean smith from Canada writes: "... return to full democracy?" When was Musharaf even partially democratic? If the west hadn't been propping up this dictator and interfering in every Pakistani political movement the extremist elements would be greatly diminished. Pakistan's military rule and the west's support for them continues to be the problem that none of our leaders are brave enough to challenge.

Brendan Caron from Vancouver, Canada writes: Anyone that didn't believe that the Taliban/al Quaeda terrorists would kill her because she is a woman seeking (Lawfully) the leadership of Pakistan does not have a grasp on reality. These are zealots that will use any means to further their ends. My condolences to the people of Pakistan. She would have made a difference like Joan of Arc did in France.

A Better Canada from No-Quebec, Canada writes: Who is this naive, ignorant Minister Bernier? Another puppet of the Bush Regime....Still protect the General Dictator, now murderer. And we have 300 gullible elected members in Ottawa who have no courage to stand up and force poodle Harper and naive Peter to get out of Alfghanistan, and stop wasting taxpayers money in the area. And now, how the tough Canadians with no brain, will justify fighting for democracy...what a joke...a sick joke that will penalize our children for generations to come.

Andy Garrett: Minister of Neo Political Correctness from West Palm Beach, United States writes: Muslim extremist no doubt had Benazir killed, most likely Al Qaeda, Taliban or related. Now they want to cry that the impending election won't be "democratic" because their are not enough candidates to make it competitive. They blame Musharraf, Bush, anyone but themselves; Musharraf, Bush etc are much smarter than that. They are not stupid like the terrorists. Reminds us of the orphan who threw himself on the mercy of society to care for him / her after he / she killed his / her parents. Why she had her head out the sunroof was totally irresponsible. No wonder Musharraf wouldn't guarantee her security. Obviously Benazir and her security detail learned nothing from the JFK and Pope incidents. They need only look in a mirror to find the true responsible party for the chaos and problems in P-stan. Unfortunately, Musharraf will probably have to once again declare marshal law to regain and maintain control of the country, move major forces into the terrorist enclaves in the mountains and wipe them out. Other government leaders can make all the statements they want, but those are just wasted breath. The only solution are firm policies against the islamic terrorists.
