  1. Ha Geen from PEI, Canada writes: I wish Britney the strength to pull herself out of the dark place she is in right now and re-focus. She seems to be surrounded by people who care more about the paycheques she directly or indirectly signs for them rather than her as a person.
  2. Terry Terry from Brantford, Canada writes: '...after a four-hour standoff in which the pop singer reportedly locked herself in a bathroom.'

Now that's entertainment! It was a tough day at the office, thanks for the laugh Brit! Keep up the good work.
  3. Alberto Bayo from Canada writes: Wow...what earth-shaking news.
  4. g h from Canada writes: I had a really great day at work today. Totally uplifting. Thanks to Terry Terry from Brantford for keeping me grounded and reminding me that they are some really pathetic individuals out there.
  5. Frank N. Stein from Canada writes: This is proof - a mountain of money does not make you happy.
  6. Chris H from Canada writes:
...neither, apparently, does a mountain of coke.
  7. Canadian Eh from Canada writes: The woman (girl) is a walking train wreck! Hardly page one news.
  8. Jagged Pill from Toronto, Canada writes: C'mon guys!! We all know who/what is responsible for all this...Global Warming!
  9. Michael Sharp from Victoria BC, Canada writes:

'They were here a minute ago!', cried an astonished Britney, her dilated pupils looking very attractive in the nightclub lights.
  10. Red Fox from Canada writes: Should not be front page news.
  11. Ricky for a Centrist Canada from Canada writes:
    The woman needs psychological help.
  12. Kevin Desmoulin from TO, Canada writes: it was only a matter of time, I wish for the best,
  13. Neil L. from Ottawa, Canada writes: This is not news. We expect better from the Globe and Mail.
  14. F E from Ottawa, Canada writes: Nothing like a public mental breakdown with the press breathing down your neck. I am starting to feel a great deal of pity for her, no human being deserves to be dragged through this no matter how rich or spoiled she may be. Give the woman her peace for awhile.
  15. Ethel Barr from Canada writes: The Rock & Roll lifestyle hasn't been kind to this one!
  16. Alyssa Watson from Canada writes: F E from Ottawa, Canada writes: Nothing like a public mental breakdown with the press breathing down your neck. I am starting to feel a great deal of pity for her, no human being deserves to be dragged through this no matter how rich or spoiled she may be. Give the woman her peace for awhile.

If she wasnt under the microscope this would just continue till she ended up like countless others. Seems like her mother doesnt want to get her help, and brit doesnt want help , maybe America will now see she needs help, and give it to her.
  17. M. O. from Ottawa, Canada writes: Is nobody concerned for her kids?

What did they do to deserve the parents that they are saddled with?
  18. C C from Canada writes: Good job Brit! Take the spotlight off your pregnant teenage sister!
  19. Dawn from Minnesota from United States writes: I hope Britney gets the help she needs.
  20. Ken Hass from Canada writes: This just in.
Britney has purchased a 5000ft trailer and she is marrying Bubbles.
    I wish them well.
  21. Red Fox from Canada writes: M. O. from Ottawa, Canada writes: Is nobody concerned for her kids?

What did they do to deserve the parents that they are saddled with?

They deserve the parents they are saddled with, because their parents decided against better judgement, to have unprotected sex.
  22. Anthony B from Sydney, NS, Canada writes: A dozen emergency vehicles and 4-hour police stand-off. Were they holding off until every cop in LA got in on the photo-op, or were they waiting for Paris Hilton to come and talk her down?

Sad really, but her team of lawyers will make another fortune.
  23. Nature Lover from Two Hills, Canada writes: Has she hit rock bottom yet? Hey, when K. Fed loses interest in them, Angelina and Brad could come and adopt their kids too.
  24. always right (the original!) from Commy Red Toronto, Canada writes: I just bet my wife that Britney does not survive 2008. I see an OD in the next 12 months - maybe accidental, maybe not...
I'm not even sure that what's best for the kids sake.
  25. Joe D. S from Canada writes: If we would stop reading about her, and wanting to know everything about her, maybe she could get better. I blame the relentless paparazzi. Like the crying freak on youtube says, Leave Britney Alone!
  26. The Centrist from Canada writes: Good grief, who cares about this individual and why is the media focused on her? She should get assistance with her alleged personal problems and move on.

Watching her is akin to being a driver who slows down and points whenever there is an ambulance at a car crash. Its bad form and manners.

Relishing in the misery of someone else is in my opinion highly uncivilized. The media should stop reporting about this poor soul and let her get her life together if she does indeed have these alleged issues.
  27. Bill Smith from The wilds of the GTA, Canada writes: Looks like the meltdown has begun, I hope Britney has hit rock bottom since her 15 minutes was up two hours ago.
  28. Bergeil DeBungie from Victoria, Canada writes: Meanwhile in other news, Tony Danza had poached eggs on toast for breakfast, Cameron Diaz lost her sunglasses and later found em in her glovebox, and a typhoon hit mainland somewhere....thousands dead.
  29. Paul Smith from Stratford, Canada writes: Get well soon - seriously.
  30. Bergeil DeBungie from Victoria, Canada writes: I wish I had a dog, as it would be I live in an apartment where they don't allow any pets whatsoever.
  31. Iain's Opinion from Canada writes: Give the poor kid (Brittney) a break! Come on people, she was on top of the world, psychophants abounding, adulation abounding, MILLIONS of people cheering her on, money pouring in, nothing she did went wrong. Everything she did went right.
Suddenly reality hits, she's a mom, her husband loses the lust, her body ain't what it used to be, her career (which her psychophants probably said would last forever) was almost in ruins, people were ridiculing her ....
    HOW WOULD YOU RESPOND?
    REALLY?
We all like to think we are stable, but check out the lives of the child/teen star hasbeens. It's not pretty.
Adulation is probably more addictive and worse than heroine.
And who is really prepared for the time when 'nobody cares'?
  32. Chicken Little from Canada writes: Who is Britney Spears anyway ? She is a not really a 'normal' person in the sense of someone having an authentic individual self. She is a kind of commodity created by the American culture industry for the purpose of making a profit by selling her media constructed celebrity lifestyle to bored lower and middle class consumers in need of entertainment. She plays a role similar to the gladiators of ancient Rome in that she provides the circus that many people need to take their mind of the boredom of everyday existence. The tragedy of the gladiator was to be killed for mere entertainment. And the tragedy of Britney is that the authentic individual life she could have had has been sacrificed for the entertainment of the bored masses and for the profits of the culture corporations. A person has been destroyed here. Sad really.... (although she does 'earn' an awful lot of money in return for her 'sacrifice').
  33. Frank Black from Vancouver, Canada writes: That entire Spears family belong in the nut house...
  34. Grey Rabbit from Canada writes: Midtown Bob from Toronto, Canada writes: Sometimes my dog eats his own number two.

Our previous dog did that too, he was a border collie. Great dog only fault was he barked too much for my liking. He died of old age at about 15 years

Present dog is way smarter , really likes to play with tennis balls all day long

Both dogs are smarter than Britney . Gotta love that hollywood lifestyle eh
  35. Mike B from Canada writes: always right (the original!) from Commy Red Toronto, Canada writes: I just bet my wife that Britney does not survive 2008. I see an OD in the next 12 months

always right, does this mean that your wife gets to leave you if Unfitney ODs? Or does she stay if BS ODs? I'll take your bet, and if she ODs, then you take my wife!
  36. siren call from Canada writes:
Spears should be refered to as a 'former pop-star'.
Most of you posters here tonight are losers and morons.
  37. Terry Terry from brantford, Canada writes: Your observations are bang on Chicken Little. In the entertainment industry she serves the same role as a '89 Impala in a demolition derby. BANG! Wow, that was good one!
  38. John Williams from Ajax, Canada writes: A woman has to basically actually risk the lives, or seriously injure her kids before the courts will even consider taking away her 'rights' to be a 'mom'.

Those kids could have ended up dead.

If a man did 1/10th of what Britney did, he would have been banned from the kids long long ago. But no, Britney, because she is a woman, gets to run rampant.

This happens everyday in Canada. Women get away with murder.
  39. Frank Black from Vancouver, Canada writes: Don't be bitter John, women still have some worth eh! In the kip ?
  40. Suzanne Lapointe from vancouver, Canada writes: I can't believe the amount of comments made by certain tv programs (especially TMZ! & Showbiz tonight!) What is it with these people? Who are they? How can they be judge and jury in this young lady's life? How can they tear her down and be so condensending? And have whole programs dedicated to destroying this young girl's life! I wouldn't doubt the press have a major role in Britney's 'meltdown'...along with her family and so called friends! And what about K-fed? How can any judge grant him custody when he left his pregnant wife and child to go to gr$$ner pasture with Britney? Doesn't anyone remember how he just dumped his ex pregnant wife and kid? Did you see him going out of his way to get custody of them? Wouldn't have anything to do with his ex not having any money to grab is it? How did I miss the halo ceremony for K-fed? Why does he send his bodyguards to get his sons from visitation with Britney? I believe he is the one who pushed Britney over the edge...he turned her life upside down...Britney's rock bottom was when she allowed this slime bucket into her life...Britney needs help....help to get her life back on track and to gain custody of her children. People/news/papparizi need to back off and let her heal, and get control of her life...please... stop the madness and leave the girl alone! If you can't stop tearing her down, leave her alone to mend and get some peace back into her life!
  41. Michael Leblanc from Toronto, Canada writes: This is disgusting. The woman is clearly in need of psychological care. Those parasitic paparazzi scum need to be dealt with. I'm pretty sure I would take the Sean Penn approach and punch any photogropher who came on or near my property or my wife squarely in the face.
They were banging on the back of the ambulance etc.? Man oh man, I'd love to run into some of these freaks in a bar sometime. And I don't think anyone would be banging on the back of their ambulance when I was finished taking my 'shots.'
I'm not at all a fan of Spears, but this is ridiculous.
  42. Red Fox from Canada writes: Michael Leblanc from Toronto, Canada writes:

The papparazzi don't do it for some private purpose.

Why do people care about the private lives of hollywood personalities ? Why does sh#t like People magazine sell ?

What you should do is, punch anyone reading People magazine squarely in the face, for being a lowlife scum who wants to know about other people's private lives.
  43. Michael Leblanc from Toronto, Canada writes: Red Fox -

in fact nobody should punch anybody if one really thinks about it..........I just have a suspicion that would be my reaction in a paparazzi onslaught situation.
I know the magazine-buying hoardes are the engine behind the paparazzi - if it didn't sell they wouldn't prostitute themselves to snap it.
But at least those who buy the tripe aren't harrassing people, violating their privacy and trespassing on their property, although they are enabling it.
I share your disdain for the vicarious-living-slobber-over-celebrity-I have no life- maggots who presume to know of strangers' private affairs, but regardless --- nothing could ever entice me to earn a buck by lowering myself to the paparazzi's level.
Good point though, thanks. I'll have to dust off my old 'reason over passion' banner. Cheers.
  44. gerhard beck from Canada writes: Who is really responsible for this disaster? Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and plenty of others are on a similar track. Where are or were the parents? Britney's sister is pregnant at sixteen. Hollywood the worlds largest whorehouse has something to do with it. Why would anybody entice their teenage daughter to join up? Times sure have changed since the days of Shirley Temple,
  45. James P from Spruce Grove, Canada writes: Drugs are so much fun. See the fun? This woman who had everything is turning her life into nothing and its all because of the need to get high. So sad. This is repeated by unknown people in Canada everyday, its just that they never had a #1 hit song.
  46. Syed Abbas from Toronto, Canada writes:
Janis Joplin. Jimmi Hendrix. et al. All these great musicians and artists and actors that the public adulates are very vulnerable inside.

If you make your life out of a make-believe, and stop living on terra firma, then what do you expect.

I wish these folks to see the light, and return to earth from cloud 9 of music and silver screen, for their own sake and the sake of children ther produce.
  47. George S from Toronto, Canada writes: Poor Britney, I hope she gets the help she needs while she is in the hospital. I think while they have her in there they should have her spayed as well...
  48. Joyce Smith from Canada writes: John Williams from Ajax: 'Sometimes an accident is a woman's best friend.' -- From the movie 'Deloris Claiborn,' about an abused wife.

Anywho, can't say that I feel sorry for Britney. In the past several months she has courted the rabid paparazzi by going out on trivial errands everyday just to be seen and photographed by them. She hasn't grasped the fact she needs to lay low and give the public a break from her because the media is her only way of getting publicity now. Her work stinks, nobody is buying it so her career is in the toilet. The paparazzi is all she's got and she's too stupid to see it will probably kill her or she'll kill herself. Too bad, given she's got 2 kids and has no right anymore to be irresponsible.
  49. Roop Misir from Toronto, Canada writes: Big deal!

    Does anyone really care?
  50. Whodat Singer from St. Catharines, Canada writes: To all those blaming the press and the pubic for her breakdown should recall that she used both to get her to the positopn she was in a few years ago. If she cannot now live with that scutiny it is her own fault. Remember the saying

"Be careful what you wish for, you just may get it"
  51. Fred Forest from London, Ontario, Canada writes: Michael Jackson should be sending Brit a monthly cheque. She pushed him off the tabs in a hurry. Is he even still alive. I hope she can pull it together.
  52. Garemi Hussey from Holding, ON, Canada writes: I'm not familiar with custody agreements in general BUT "What's this stuff about turning (your) children over to (the other party's) "representatives"?
  53. scsi duck from toronto, Canada writes: gerhard beck from Canada writes: "...Times sure have changed since the days of Shirley Temple..."

    ...and Fatty Arbuckle too.
