  2. Phil M from Toronto, Canada writes: Yawn, another attempt to take down the Pirate Bay. This just in, special guest testimony from the MPAA and RIAA; their experts assert that The Pirate Bay has cost 90 katrillion bajillion dollars in losses to the entertainment industry.
  3. S Lewis from Victoria B.C., Canada writes: i love how the last time they took the site down for good it was runing on secret servers again like 2 days later. yar the pirits be mighty.
  4. Kevin Desmoulin from TO, Canada writes: Rats one of the best sites.
  5. C C from Coombs BC, Canada writes: Heh.

Mininova, one of many pirate bay sites.

  6. BoNZo G. from Canada writes: Hey, gun companies don't get charges when people are murdered with the guns they manufacture, do they?

Record companies are obsolete, they just don't understand it yet...
  7. Paul who is from Vancouver, Canada writes: .
Who would be stupid enough to purchase a Sony BMG CD after they were caught putting rootkits onto honest paying customer's computers and then lying about it?

If any of us pulled that stunt we would be in jail right now.

Sony BMG killed CD sales, not Pirate Bay.

Plaintiffs include Warner, MGM, Columbia Pictures, 20th Century Fox Films, Sony BMG, Universal and EMI.

Boycott all of these 20th century losers.
  8. C C from Canada writes: I remember when Suprnova closed down in 2004, and Mininova, Torrentspy and Pirate Bay moved right in to fill the demand.

File sharing is like the Hydra. You take one head out, and two new ones appear. With the way the record companies are acting, they may soon become a myth themselves.
  9. Internet Dog from USA! USA! USA!, United States writes: Clearly, Sweden needs mandatory minimum sentences for this type of thing; maybe a one strike and you're out law or two. This will teach those pirates to stop mocking lawyers. Har har indeed.

Mandatory sentences? Not even your precious USA has mandatory sentences, let alone ANY sentence for copyright infringement. Semantics aside, people might actually care about record companies if they can ever stop extorting artists and gouging customers. Unfortunately, I doubt that will ever happen - we're far more likely to see the major labels reduced to insignificance than any other outcome.
  11. Sam Snead from Canada writes: Pretty tired of hearing the whining of companies not able to compete in the market like everyone else has to.

My only suggestion for people is to stop buying these products completely.

Stick a dollar bill on the corner of your monitor, as bait, to see to they will come get it. The only way to get our money is to download it.
  12. Iain's Opinion from Canada writes: Why are these people businesses filing suit? One of the biggest purveyors of DVD burners and DVD media is Sony. They make the stuff we want to copy and provide us with the stuff to copy it with then get all upset when we use the stuff???????
Charge the makers of blank DVD's
Charge the makers of DVD burners
    Charge the copy program developers
    Then charge the hapless users.
  13. Tim Cares from Canada writes: I think that since the downloads can be of perfectly legal things, freeware for example, the PiratesBay may have a defense. That being said, if they brag specifically about having links to Hollywood movies on their site, then they may have some problems.
