  1. Udom Thongpai from Victoria, Canada writes: It would be nice to have some clarification. Abdul Hakim Jan has been said by many other sources to be a warlord running his own militia, which some have called auxiliary police. The author of the article calls him a police commander. Who was he? What was his relationship to government authority? Did he coordinate with Canadian Forces? So far, it sounds like he was a warlord operating on his own. How many other armed groups are outside our knowledge or control?

Also, The Taliban killed him, but he's the one who put himself in a crowd at a place where there had already been a serious attempt to blow him up.... It would be good to know more about the 200 odd police Governor Asadullah Khalid fired. Were Canadians training them? Why were replacements sought "from elsewhere in the country" instead of hiring local Pashtuns? Why pick ethnic enemies who can't speak Pashtun?

  3. The Central Screwtinizer from Ottawa, Canada writes: Its difficult to ignore how many of these same minded, demented people live in the same 'demented' land and deserve each other's dementedness where they are either blown up, shot, tortured, beheaded etc. Looks good on them...Allah Akbar!
  4. David Gibson from Hamilton, Canada writes: At a dogfight? Instant Karma.
  5. Loudan Bellicose from Canada writes: The Central Screwtinizer, you might make a believer out of me yet.
Yes Allah does work in mysterious ways getting rid of evil religious types. Allah Akbar.
  6. Ed Barreveld from Canada writes: Our men and women are dying so that the Afghans can amuse themselves watching dogs shred each other to pieces ???
  7. Kenneth Yurchuk from Toronto, Canada writes: The most interesting thing about this report compared to others I have seen on the same subject is that this one states that up to 50 of the dead were "police" working for Jan. Sounds like this was largely a police run event and as such was not an " atrocity"aimed at civilians but a military attack on a military target.
  8. Brendan Caron from Vancouver, Canada writes: According to the Koran dogs are vermin and should not be tolerated. It is not surprising that they would fight them and think that they are in God's pleasure seeing these animals fighting. According to Judaic/Christian law we are to have dominion over the animals of the world. I take it that the Muslims are unsinuating their misinterpretations of their ideals over the Bibles. Instant Karma? Sounds about right.
  9. Richard Roskell from Canada writes: The huge death toll cannot be reasonably attributed solely to the suicide attacker. Almost certainly, after the bomb went off Mr. Jan's guards would have begun firing at those close by. This same scenario played out a couple of months ago in northern Afghanistan. The deaths caused by the initial attack were limited, but then the guards who were supposed to be protecting the victim opened fire with their AK-47's and literally mowed down innocent bystanders.

This could be the opening savlo in a new campaign from PETA.
