Tax-credit crackdown on films puts spotlight on evangelical community

OTTAWA — The role a prominent evangelical leader may have played in Ottawa's move to deny tax credits to TV and film productions deemed offensive has put Canada's large and varied evangelical community in the spotlight. Last week, Charles McVety, president of the Canada Family Action Coalition, said that his lobbying efforts influenced the decision to have Canadian Heritage officials expand the criteria used for denying tax credits.
