  1. Robert P from Canada writes: The one negative to outsource based services like these is that all data is stored off premis in a shared datacenter... most likely in the states. Not only is security an issue but even though your company is Canadian your data now (if hosted in the US) comes under the eye of the US Government (via the Patriot ACT).

    So the question is not just how safe are these sites against attacks from the competition and your clients data but will your data be scanned by the US government.

    Just something that NetSuite doesn't talk about that a business owners may want to consider. Perhaps a Canadian hosted site by a Canadian owned (not sub) company may be an option (if available).
  2. OScaR D from T.O., Canada writes: For some of our clients, allowing their data to be stored out-of-country is a non-starter. They won't do it, they're suspicious.

    Additionally, whomever is in charge of Model Train's domain management isn't doing a very good job - the domain doesn't respond without the "www", and even with the "www", the site we find is terrible. Not the kind of publicity I'd want if I were NetSuite.
  3. Randal Oulton from Canada writes: Make sure (a) that the data is stored on Canadian soil unless you want Homeland Security pawing through it; and (b) the company hosting your database of 300,000 media contacts is planning to stick around and not just go out of business one day :}
