Tom Gray from Canada writes: I agree with Mr. MacGregor on the environment issue. "Some of the best minds and hearts" in the country are in Alberta. They have been inspired by the sincere environmental efforts of the government of Ontario. This is a government that puts the environment ahead of petty economic issues such as jobs and food for families. The government and people of Ontario are' of course' willing to sacrifice for the environment and shut down the automobile industry that drives southern Ontario and Toronto. Jobs or the environment, the people of Toronto have spoken.

lost in the colonies from cowgary, Canada writes: i'm born in calgary and have lived most of my life in alberdUh but lord !! . . . what a place. where exactly are the oil companies gunna go ? oil is hovering at $100.00 a barrel and chances are slim to none that it's ever going back to $25.00 or $50.00 a barrel. Anybody heard of peak oil ? If there is oil they will stay or come or come back.
i've had a kitchen table conversation with conservative rural farm voter and ya know . . . that person was not an ideologue and was open to the concepts and implications of economic sustainability on public policy just don't think they get presented too often or in a reasonable manner . . . furshure not by the local press. the liberals need to stop being a typical opposition party and equating anything and everything PC as bad cuz not all their policies are bad. For example the advantages given to small business, another part of alberta's thriving economy.
Then there's electoral reform - can you spell gerrymander ? it would be nice if that got fixed for a start but i ain't holding my breath. And sum sort of proportional representation ? That's dreaming the impossible dream. sigh- Posted 05/03/08 at 6:53 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
