  1. J.C. Davies from Canada writes:
Gotta give the ancient greeks credit for the 'hubris' thing - (some) men have learned nothing over the past 2000 years.
  2. Dr Demento from Canada writes: The Governor of New Jersey was forced to resign because he was gay - this clown will resign because he couldn't keep his pants on.

What is the matter with American politicians . . . ?
  3. Terry Terry from Brantford, Canada writes: $5,500 an hour??? I don't know where I'd come up $458.33 before payday.

'When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, 'If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.'' John 8:7

$5,500 an hour??? Where's my stone?
  4. Paul Wallnutz from Canada writes: It is interesting that when a US Democrat is caught with his pants down, there is usually a woman present.

On the other hand, the 'family values, religious right' republicans always seem to be caught in a same sex situation, despite the fact that they seem to universally and vehemently oppose that lifestyle.
  5. True North from Canada writes: 'Considers resignation'?? The man went after prostitution rings by day and then frequented them by night; he made so many enemies on his holier-than-thou horse I hope he falls hard.
  6. Mary Smith from United States writes:

    Paul Wallnutz

I guess you missed the New Jersey episode (McGreevey). But you're right about the women by his side.
  7. Kan Tankerous from Tronna, Canada writes: Paul Wallnutz...right on the money. American politics is littered with holier-than-thou rubble. Their anal (that's not an intention pun directed at disgraced Republicans) set of values is pure myth and fantasy.
  8. Fred Draper from Kingston, Canada writes: Jay Leno said it best: if the Governor of the great state of New York is client no. 9, who exactly rates as clients 1 through 8?

BTW, I'm amazed that the 1910 Mann Act, which has ensnared Jack Johnson and Chuck Berry, among others, has been exhumed for this purpose.

I thought it related to the interstate transportation of women for immoral purposes. I didn't think it related to a pro catching the 9:10 bullet train.

BTW, part deux, how long will it be before we hear from the 5'5', 105 pound Kristen in person?
  9. Ed Anger from Canada writes: stay away from extremist in every form as they are always hiding something.
  10. Peter Simpson from Vancouver, Canada writes: The few things I've read about this guy suggest he has a serious ego issue. I see him as yet another self entitled, isolated, wealthy brat who grew up with the same. Toss a coin.....heads politics, tails Wall Street. Same people, same behaviours.
  11. Tipsy Ipsy from Canada writes: J.C. Davies from Canada writes:
Gotta give the ancient greeks credit for the 'hubris' thing - (some) men have learned nothing over the past 2000 years.

Learned?? what's to learn?? Things like this are as ancient as the particular profession itself.
  12. The Skipper from Canada writes: At least he didn't tell us that 'I did not have sex with that women !'
Good ole Billy Clinton - men always think with their little heads !
  13. The Middle Finger ..I.. from Canada writes: To Dr Demento from Canada who wrote: The Governor of New Jersey was forced to resign because he was gay.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Really? For being gay? This was his misconduct?
  14. Paul Thompson from Canada writes: Who the hell is worth $5000 an hour?
  15. The Middle Finger ..I.. from Canada writes: Fred Draper from Kingston, Canada writes: BTW, part deux, how long will it be before we hear from the 5'5', 105 pound Kristen in person?

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

She'll likely be on Povich or Springer next week.
  16. The Middle Finger ..I.. from Canada writes: To Peter Simpson from Vancouver, Canada who wrote: The few things I've read about this guy suggest he has a serious ego issue. I see him as yet another self entitled, isolated, wealthy brat who grew up with the same. Toss a coin.....heads politics, tails Wall Street. Same people, same behaviours.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I thought it was head - blonde, tail - brunette.
  17. The Middle Finger ..I.. from Canada writes: To Paul Thompson from Canada who wrote: Who the hell is worth $5000 an hour?

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    Hockey players?
  18. Chantal M from Japan writes: We have to separate the chaff from the grain: bedroom politics aside, Spitzer broke the law - a law which he continously held others accountable to - and consequently he should resign.

While it's true the laws around prostitution need to be revisited, Spitzer did nothing to lobby for this during his term. Instead, he reinforced the current laws by cracking down on other prostitution rings.
  19. The Middle Finger ..I.. from Canada writes: If Kristen got $5,000 / hr for doing a Governor in a hotelroom, Monica should have got much more for doing a President in the Oval Office. She needed a good booking agent and a good financial adviser.
  20. Canadian Woman from Canada writes: WHY is this on the front page of the Globe and Mail? WHY do we care what some U.S. dude is doing in New York?! Why is this even reported by the G & M?! And they used to be a newspaper!!
  21. daniel saliken from Vancouver, Canada writes: Remember Presidential hopeful Gary Hart who allowed himself to be photographed with his mistress on his knee on board a boat called 'Monkey Business'? What an irony that the picture was shot at the back of the boat to capture the boat's name as a caption for his filandering. People were stunned not by his poor character, but that he was so stupid as to pose with his trophy for this destructive evidence.

Democratic bid as frontrunner was over. (Stupid ego-weak) guys and their need to prove their power and value with rendom girls.

Makes me wonder about all the powerful politicians we don't hear about because they are being blackmailed by some interest group or foriegn government. What a way to lose control of your country and its so easy apparently. Just wave a stripper around some Prime Minister or Supreme Court judge and you have yourself quite the puppet for the price of film and his cheap character.
  22. The Middle Finger ..I.. from Canada writes: To Canadian Woman from Canada who wrote: WHY is this on the front page of the Globe and Mail?

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Are you a ' prude '? Let the boys play.
  23. Chantal M from Japan writes: Well, at least it's in a Canadian newspaper and not a Japanese one. Since when has infidelity been comparable to an atomic bomb?
  24. Tipsy Ipsy from Canada writes: The Middle Finger ..I.. from Canada writes: Geez, Spitzer has big ears. I wonder if Kristen was holding on to them during ride' em cowboy?

Maybe his ears were stretched because the ride was too hard
  25. daniel saliken from Vancouver, Canada writes: I am surprised 'Canadian Woman' doesn't understand the profound and disturbing implications for democracies when such powerful men are so character weak and vulnerable to manipulation by those in the know. That is big news because such decision makers can be exploited by dark forces.

You think its just some immature voyeur sex story about somewhere else so who cares? Interesting insight into your thought process. Relavance is in the eye of the beholder
  26. martha stewart from Canada writes: Hope he doesn't cry like Jimmy Swaggart did.
  27. Dave from Vangcoova from Wet Coast, Canada writes: Yeah, and good luck with your 3 daughters ... and expalining to them how your vow to make a life-long commitment to Silda meant so much to you ... what hypocrisy & rubbish. In the final analysis, the only thing that really mattered to you was your dick.
  28. The Middle Finger ..I.. from Canada writes: To martha stewart from Canada who wrote: Hope he doesn't cry like Jimmy Swaggart did.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Not likely. Swaggart was a Republican. Spitzer is a Democrat. More class.
  29. The Middle Finger ..I.. from Canada writes: To Chantal M from Japan who wrote: Well, at least it's in a Canadian newspaper and not a Japanese one. Since when has infidelity been comparable to an atomic bomb?

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Would you rather have ' Sex scandal sets Albany's rocks off '?
  30. Lemmy Nothor from Exiled in Barcelona, Spain writes: As Marx once said : Behind every successful man is a woman, and behind her is his wife.

Marx, circa 1938.....Julius Henry Marx, aka Groucho
  31. The Last Honest Conservative from Western, Canada writes:
'The governor may have spent as much as $80,000 (U.S.) on prostitutes, Associated Press reported yesterday, suggesting a pattern of behaviour that will only inflame his Republican adversaries'

.............. Especially the Republicans that linger in mens washrooms looking for cheaper sex.
  32. The Last Honest Conservative from Western, Canada writes:
    The Middle Finger wrote:
Swaggart was a Republican. Spitzer is a Democrat. More class.

so that explains why Republicans want to impeach Spitzer.
......... and not David Vitter, Mark Foley, etc
  33. johnny middlefinger from Canada writes: The only shocker in this story is that this guy had sex with the prostitute for 2 hrs. If that's true she should have been paying him.
  34. Bert Russell Paradox, BC from Canada writes:

Who writes these article captions: SEX and ATOMICS BOMBS!!! GM must have hired a new Tabloid Editor. Spitzers wife hit by a bomb shell - Clintons wife stands by her man ...
  35. Diane Schweik from EDMONTON, Canada writes: .

At least his good friend Hillary can give Silda plenty of advice on how to deal with philandering husbands.
  36. Bert Russell Paradox, BC from Canada writes:
Some say he had a ' holier than thou zeal' but no mention of his religion?
Would that mean he was Born agin ..... Somebody has some spainin to do.
  37. Stude Ham from Outremont, Canada writes: oh puleeze... enough of this garbage journalism blowing a positively unknown politico (outside of albany) totally out of proportion.

must be slow news days in the US... and feeble attempts by the unpopular right wing republicans to smear the opposition...

please get on with real news.
  38. Diane Schweik from EDMONTON, Canada writes: .

The police chief of Greater Manchester,UK,has committed suicide by jumping off a mountain cliff. It is thought because a newspaper was about to publish a story about his extramarital affairs. It seems he was more in the in the Clinton tradition of preying on subordinates than pay for play.

It seems the French do have a more tolerant attitude to human frailty than 'les anglais' in the loose (!) sense of the term.
  39. Andy Lun from Hamilton, Canada writes: More news to distract people from what is really happening in the world. Chavez brings peace to the region in south America. Womens day was last Saturday, did anyone in Canada know this? ...

... Something else must have happened recently, everytime an article like this comes, it is just to distract everyone.
  40. Mei-Xing Xu from Canada writes: have society put him on trial, the punishment should include hard labour.
  41. No Left or Right Just Neutral from Canada writes: Paul Wallnutz from Canada writes: It is interesting that when a US Democrat is caught with his pants down, there is usually a woman present.

    **
But if it is Republicans or religious leaders getting caught with their pants down, there is usually a "man" present!
  42. No Left or Right Just Neutral from Canada writes: Andy Lun from Hamilton, Canada writes: More news to distract people from what is really happening in the world. Chavez brings peace to the region in south America. Womens day was last Saturday, did anyone in Canada know this? ...

8 US soldiers got killed because of deadly attacks in Iraq. Nobody knew or cared.
  43. Robert Dryburgh from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada writes: Another politician caught not practicing what he was preaching. I feel sorry for his wife standing beside him and the three daughters at home. I can only imagine the humiliation and shame Spitzer's misdemeanors have caused them.
  44. Tipsy Ipsy from Canada writes: No Left or Right Just Neutral from Canada writes: 8 US soldiers got killed because of deadly attacks in Iraq. Nobody knew or cared.

Across the world, children starve, are raped & killed, die of malnutrition & diseases. Say you know but do you care??
  45. Free Spirit from Halifax, Canada writes: Spitzer is a rich man. His income last year was nearly $2 million. $80,000 for "entertainment" is nothing for him. He will lose his job and his dignity. This would completely ruin any ordinary person. But as a rich person he and his family will survive quite nicely.
  46. Jim Z from Canada writes: An old saying people who live in glass houses should not throw stones. The sad thing is not only has a promising career gone down the drain. But what will be the repercussions with regard to this man's wife and three daughters. They will need to fine the strength that Hillary did. Plus he needs to go into rehab for sexual addiction if the story is true and he went thru 80 thousand dollars.
  47. Mr. Justice from Canada writes: He needs to change political parties and blame SATAN and "the liberal press" for the whole thing.

US Senator David Vitter (R-Je susland . . . okay: "Louisiana") hired prostitutes, admitted to it (after denying it, of course), and the Senate Republican Leadership backed him up, and he is still serving in the US Senate. No problem. And he blames (when he's not blaming Satan): "the liberal press".

. . . and then there's Sen. Larry Craig; remember him ? Still serving, after being "outed" for the same thing that Spitzer has been "outed" for; and then there was the incident in the mensroom. Oh, well.

But, of course, the Republican Legislature can always impeach Gov. Spitzer; backed by millions in coming campaign contributions from Wall Street thieves and parasites who (for good reason) always hated Spitzer, the legislators will do exactly that, and come out richer, too.

    Ahhhhh . . . double standards.
  48. An Thornton from Canada writes: People are baffled as to why he did such a stupid thing. The answer is easy..men have two heads to think with...he chose to listen to the wrong one
  49. Josie Erent from toronto, Canada writes: typical high profile guy....typical hypocrite politician.

The fact that he is a lawyer and the governor who broke the law........

HE HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO RESIGN......

Its amazing how politicians everywhere in the world Canada, United States etc....feel they are above the law....

If if was average JOE BLOW the person who already have been charged...

that is the problem.....2 sets of laws...one unenforced against the political and powerful

What a stupid expensive way to sabatoge one's career
  50. Justa Guy from Toronto, Canada writes: IN AND OF ITSELF, WHAT HE DID ISNT ALL THAT BAD. IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY IN EVERY CITY IN THE WORLD.

BUT, GIVEN THE FACT THAT HE BUILT HIS CAREER ON VICIOUSLY PROSECUTING THOSE INVOLVED IN PROSTITUTION ON MORAL GROUNDS, HE CERTAINLY WINS THE HYPOCRITE OF THE YEAR AWARD AND SHOULD RESIGN.

  51. Eye Sore from Dog Pound, Alberta, Canada writes: Gov. Spitzer has been hoist on his own petard, as Hamlet would say.
  52. Kman Willi from Canada writes: Hum.. a human being being sexual - what a scandel.

At least it wasn't another republican caught with a little boy, one of his pages, or at an airport..
  53. A non-Imus from Canada writes: Hopefully Spitzer's three teenage daughters will all grow up to be 7-diamond ladies and make their daddy proud.
  54. Anuradha Bose from ottawa, writes: I feel for his wife-she should dump the berk.
  55. John Doucette from Manotick, Canada writes: "Sex scandal hits Albany like 'an atomic bomb'" Isn't the headline just a little over the top?
  56. No Left or Right Just Neutral from Canada writes: Tipsy Ipsy from Canada writes: No Left or Right Just Neutral from Canada writes: 8 US soldiers got killed because of deadly attacks in Iraq. Nobody knew or cared.

I do and I try my best to help as much as possible. But, lets come back to the real topic here, our biggest economic partner and next door neighbor is in a war and there was a big hit on their military. Shouldn't you know about it??? So you are saying you don't care about the American military???
  57. Boomer AB from Canada writes: I still want to know how he got that credit on his account. I looked at my Aeroplan stuff and there is nothing about miles for hookers on it.
  58. Murray Richardson from Canada writes: An interesting development related to this story sees the Republicans in the New York State Legislature organizing impeachment proceedings against Spitzer. When Bill Clinton couldn't keep his p**r in his pants, the Congress organized impeachment proceedings against him. I guess sexual indiscretions amount to "high crimes and misdemeanors" in the US. Meanwhile, an American President who launches an illegal war, who cavalierly violates the Geneva protocols, who compromises the civil liberties of American citizens, who openly advocates the use of torture, and who imperils the nation's treasury is allowed to retain his office unchallenged. What a curious land the USA is!
  59. gordon davies from Victoria B.C., Canada writes: They seek the position for pay & power, but like many to-day in politics or commerce see nothing wrong looting the cookie jar. If a years time for millions made , sure isn't an deterrent.
  60. Diane Schweik from EDMONTON, Canada writes: .

    Murray R

Clinton was impeached because he lied under oath to a grand jury.At least Nixon had the grace to resign.
  61. Jack Jones from Clearwater BC, Canada writes: Murray Richardson Here Here!!
  62. Joe Calgarian from Calgary, Canada writes: So he was banging a few hookers, big deal. Judge him by what acts he's done while in office not for what boneheaded things he's done in his personal life.

Now if he was banging them using public money, well that's different.
