W Orr from Canada writes: This man makes total sense. I met the Major General in Burlington a while back, and he is a soldier's soldier. This reminds me of the fact between our soldiers and our political leaders. Our soldiers are not afraid to do their job, but our political leaders are afraid to do their job. Career politicians scare me more than the Taliban.

Richard Hawrelak from Sarnia, Canada writes: The dream could have been worse. It could have included no more spending on the military for anything but Peace Keeping. It could have included an order to return the troops withing the week. It could have included scaling down the military by 50% with the funds being spent on health care, education, the poor, the environment.
If Liberals post this package as their platform for the next election, I'll vote for them in a heartbeat.- Posted 31/05/08 at 11:28 AM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

W Orr from Canada writes: To Richard Hawrelak from Sarnia, yes, I would agree with you if we lived in a perfect world, but we dont. I dont feel comfortable at night knowing that there are Canadians who would so easliy cut are CF's in half and expose our boarders to eliments that wish to kill us. The same Canadians who would have nothing against our southern friends to march into Canada to aid us because we dont have the military strength to fight an invading force. These Canadians scare me more than our politicians do.

Big Pumkineater from Ottawa, Canada writes: Well put Gen. Mackenzie! Unlike many of the rebuttals that will be posted here the man knows what he is talking about becasue he lived through it (and succeeded despite the ridiculous restrictions placed on him).
