Miller looks to province for greater powers for mayor, city executive

Toronto Mayor David Miller plans to seek greater executive powers for himself and his cabinet-like committee of senior councillors in a shakeup of the city that may need the support of Premier Dalton McGuinty. That quest for greater control of the agenda forms a key part of the mayor's plan to implement recommendations from a panel of business, academic and labour leaders who reported last month on ways to improve the city's financial management and leadership.
