  1. Republic of Saturn from Canada writes:
    That will never happen.

Chinese won't talk to Dalai until he totally gives up. If Tibetans seek voilence way, Chinese can invade India as the anti-terrorist operation, or India crushes them - then it will be the Indian-Tibetan war. So Chinese never lose anything by just waiting.

According to the Tibetan tradition, a Dalai should die in the Pudala Palace, his body should be processed with the gold powder and preserved there, whorshiped by his followers forever. But Chinese have no desire to give that hornor to him, they want Dalai dies in India and his body rotten there.

That'll be the biggest humiliation for the current Dalai Lama.
  2. Joseph T from Victoria, Canada writes: Aren't all Tibetans given the Sky Burial send off?
  3. Republic of Saturn from Canada writes:
Not for Dalai, actually I have the picture for that, the most well guarded secret in PRC regarding to the Tibetan culture, strictly forbidden to be shown.

    It's extremely scaring.
  4. Jim Mohagan from toronto, Canada writes: Good for Harper. If China had any integrity they would allow international journalists on the scene. They look like fools claiming the Dalia Lama is some kind of conniving terrorist threating them. It's obvious to the world they just are trying to cover up their police state behavior.
  5. A W from Canada writes: Any Canadian Government would not even consider any action against China because of our trade relations!!!
    Sorry but money talks.
  6. dwight steadman from Fort Macleod from Canada writes: I'm generally no fan of the Conservative policies, but kudos to Prime Minister Harper for speaking out. Bravo for having the courage to take a moral stance on the abuses going on in Tibet. Keep up the pressure.

    arkness
Total agreement JM. China has this moment to rise above the old petty regime. Central Control = The Central Scrutinizer...apologies to Frank Zappa. This is the moment from which China can come out of it's secret society...it takes just a few brave souls to rise above the darkness...Pray pray for it's people as well.
  8. CD W from Canada writes: The Chicoms have tried to put a lot of lipstick on their pig of a national culture based on communist ideals. President/Chairman HU, tear down this wall.
  9. J PAN from toronto, Canada writes: I do not think all the Tibet unique culture is wonderful. For example, 20-30% of whole Tibet man became Lama (monk), they do not work, they do not marry, they live in the temple do nothing but studying and debating Buddhist scripture all their life. That is one important reason why Tibet is such a backward area in the world today. Can you image what a terrible thing if 20-30% of whole Canada man became friar live in the church do nothing but studying and debating Bible all their life?
  10. Republic of Saturn from Canada writes:
Actually, a Tibetan Lama can have sex(not marrage), which is part of the religion practice(called double advance). Sex with virgin is the must in many ceremonies.

For Dalai Lama, the girl for 'double advance' can be as young as 6 years old.
  11. James P from Spruce Grove, Canada writes: Well J PAN, many in Canada sit in front of a TV, collecting EI, welfare or some other form of social justice. Many of these same people have addictions and are a drain on the rest who contribute. I'd trade them in for monks.
  12. Clark The Mighty from Canada writes: Dalai Lama to meet HU, the BUTCHER OF TIBET

(research what Hu did in 89 in Tibet... savage!)
  13. M. U. from Canada writes: It is mind-boggling 'His Holiness the Daila Lama' has fooled so many people, including most politicians in the West. The truth is: the Dalai Lama is a sham; he is no angel. He is so fake that Mel Gibson once said, 'even his laughter is sham'. Guess what, the Dalai Lama was a good buddy of the Japanese Doomsday guru Shoko Asahara, who ordered the release of sarin gas in Tokyo subway that killed many people in 1995. Check this out: http://www.iivs.de/~iivs01311/SDLE/Part-2-13.htm

JP these Monks sound like just about every 20-30 year old's still living in any Canadian's basement. The only difference is if they went outside in Burnaby they would't be shot - for living the way they do. Good day and may no bullets fly in your way...
  16. Republic of Saturn from Canada writes:
Clark, a Taiwan woman was caught a few days ago in a 'double advance'.

Her husband sent her to a Tibetan monk to practice, only heard some interesting 'noice' when trying to call her on the road back - the woman accidently turned on the cell phone.

    That's a very funny story.

A disgusting way of trying divert attention from the issue. You guys are all over the map with a million distracting comments. Please address the central question: If China is telling the truth why don't they allow international journalists on the scene? Waiting until you finish something?
  18. Building an Ark from Eastern Slopes, Canada writes: Republic of Saturn from Canada writes:
That's part of the Tibetan culture and it's very important. So many males become monks you need them to have the sex to produce enough population.I am not aware of if double advance still exist for children girls, but for adult it does exist. Learn something Tibet, which is very interesting.

    Brigand.
  22. M. U. from Canada writes: Jim Mohagan from toronto, Canada writes: ' Please address the central question: If China is telling the truth why don't they allow international journalists on the scene? '

I agree with you, Jim, that it is stupid of the Chinese government to bar all journalists from Tibet. They should allow some fair-minded, objective observers into Tibet to see what it is they are doing. This would be a wise thing to do. However, it is also understandable why they had to do what they did because many international journalists are so prejudiced that their reporting is so one-sided, which has been amply exhibited in the past few days. You could only decipher some truth about the incident by going through some travellers' blogs.

It is a shame that there is no objectivity in journalism any more. It has become a political game.
  23. Building an Ark from Eastern Slopes, Canada writes: Lincon Hero from BC, Canada writes: Beijing should urge Canada to let QUEBEC independent.

Hey Lin from wherever you are - no one shoots our Folks in Quebec, we even allow journalists to film, and guess what we don't hate Quebec for doing what they do best-trying to live - go and tell your Master that this line doesn't work...

  34. Andy X from Canada writes: Republic of Saturn, you are a bloody embarrassment to all Chinese people regardless of each's stance on Tibet (I assume you are Chinese). Even someone like Clark The Mighty is not taking your bait (okay maybe he did).

Spar, do you know there are pictures available online showing Tibetan monks lying face down on the ground with a single bullet hole at the base of the skull?
  36. James P from Spruce Grove, Canada writes: M. U. from Canada writes:It is a shame that there is no objectivity in journalism any more. It has become a political game.

    -----------
You've got that right...But that hasn't stopped western countries from letting it happen. I mean look at the USA and their crimes in Iraq. GWB has become the worlds biggest joke and criminal in the eyes of journalist. Yet the news presses on. In China, fuggetabout it. No way, can't even talk about it on the net(without fear) with your buddies if you're living there. That is the difference. No amount of wrongdoing by Tibet will change the opinion of free people that the big boys in China are the bad boys.
  37. martha stewart from Canada writes: Spar Brampton writes: 'Jim, do you know Hitler, hamas, Castro were all democratically elected... '

So was Bush... and your point is... ?

On the other hand, the Dalai Lama wasn't.
  38. siren call from Canada writes: This is a lot better effort on Harper's part than the earlier dry run which saw a flunky meet the protesters and say that Harper was too busy to meet, but could see them from his office.

That was the peking duck approach, I assume.

Finally Condoleeza Rice got through and gave the 'meet with the Dalai Lama' approach.

    Much better.
  39. Jim Mohagan from toronto, Canada writes: James P from Spruce Grove, Canada writes:
'No amount of wrongdoing by Tibet will change the opinion of free people that the big boys in China are the bad boys.'

Actually James P - from Spruce Grove, Canada - it's more like no amount of evasion and obstruction by the Chinese government will change the opinion of free people that Tibetans are being brutalized. But thanks for admitting that we are the free people.
  40. glenn hoefer from Forks, United States writes: Mess with the Bull, get the Horn.

Red Communist China is hardly 'embarrassed'. This is the face of totalitarianism. It isn't voted out, it isn't made to be ashamed by people signing a petition. So some won't go to the Olympics, who even watches anymore? Sorry, don't want you to worry about yours.

    MacArthur knew what they respected.

What will anyone do when they move on Taiwan?
  41. jack sprat from Canada writes: Harper 'urges'....does anyone think China cares....

its all political smoke with this guy, just ask the canadian in jail in mexico
  42. James P from Spruce Grove, Canada writes: Jim Mohagan...I was simply responding to people who seem to believe Tibet somehow deserves this and that China in its infinite collective wisdom once again has all the answers.

Notice how people such as Hitler, Hugo Boss, Fidel, USSR all have kept the press from reporting freely? I am not a fan of advocacy journalism, and even though it seems most MSM is, I'd still take it over no or state controlled journalism.
  43. Building an Ark from Eastern Slopes, Canada writes: One of the best points was made by Rex Murphy tonight ( many apologies to the agent's who will now have to find out who he is) his discussion was if this is the new China, why were the government describing him as a wolf in robes and his monks as jackals??? Here's to the new boss - same as the old Boss!!! - apologies this time to the WHO? Check that one out on your google posters. he message is China want's to enter the New Order - but can not let go of the control - hello old boss- still shooting love that!!!

  45. Michael Sharp from Victoria, Canada writes:

You know the part that is quite disturbing?

Buddhist monks get that way by being ascetic.
    As in, no earthly possessions.

Just what does China gain by conquering a bunch of hippie commune guys with lots of bells and incense?

    Tibet freaks China out.

Pretty much anything Godly freaks out a socialist.

    God and socialism don't mix.
    They're mutually exclusive.

This Chinese socialism thing where the cadre suppresses and represses people of faith is intolerable.

If China was really smart, they'd let Tibet go.
    Just before the Olympics.

For the Chinese it would be like winning the lottery.
    The world would love them.

Business would be really, really good.

Ah, the glory of the free market economy.
  46. Clark The Mighty from Canada writes: Most Chinese people are very sensible.

    What we have here is:

    1. some paid planters

    2. some skinheads using Chinese names

    3. some lonely freaks who feel inadequate downstairs.

The usual 3some at the Globe!

    Ignore them!

Most Chinese are very sensible and want Tibet to simply leave and stop taking Chinese tax money!

Ignore the idiots on public forums and go to China and talk to the people who are very reasonable.

    MU just lacks p.orn.
  47. martha stewart from Canada writes: Hi Ark - If you'd read up on your Chinese history you'd know why. It isn't a monolithic culture and it could implode without the heavy hand. Imagine the breakup of Yugoslavia on a mega scale. Heavy handed Tito was the only thing keeping it stable earlier. Just like Saddam kept Iraq in one piece.

Not saying its great for the indivual people living there but that's what works over there. A long, long history of group-think.

And they've got millions of very frustrated single men without women so imagine the potential for destruction.

Are you sure you didn't mean the Mexican restaurant in Kaslo? Much better than anything they had in New Denver.
  50. Building an Ark from Eastern Slopes, Canada writes: Ok this is really strange but my post seems to have been hacked. I'm positive it could not have been from some agent, naw that would be too convenient. I now point that the govt. of China is asking that no-one would meet the Dali-Lama in any Government Building? Would they possibly find out he is not a Jackal/ Wolf/ or any other beast that China could portray him as? Republic of Saturn do you have any pictures involving goats? I would think not - your old school tricks will not work on informed people. Go back to your flocks - The Dali-Lama has been your target of 'Animal Farm' for too long - google that one!!! Two legs bad- four legs good - let's have China join modern intellect here...

Took highway 31A, I think, back to Vernon, went to the backside of Okanagan Lake, Lillooet, Squamish, Vancouver, Sunshine Coast.
    Hiked Kokanee glacier.
    Fished Kokanee lake.
Hiked where Trudeau's son was killed.

I fell in love with New Denver.
    It's spectacular.

What if Quebec refuses to use English and turns its back to the rest of Canada? This is exactly what is happening to certain people in Tibet. Poor, remote Tibet is basically of little or no value to the West nor to China itself. Unlike Outer Mongolia which has a powerful nation up north to back up its independance. India has long indicated that the country has nothing to do with Dalai Lama's independance advocates. Dalai should know better that Tibet is a resourceless territory hidden in one of the world's highest altitude that is uninhabitable by many. It seems a coincidence that before the Tibetans riots occurred, Dalai was busy visiting US and Canada just a short while ago.

  81. Vancouver-Kingsway Antics-Shy Voter from Canada writes: Harper is only mum because most of his so-called ministers are afraid. Send Guergis! She's all good with foreign relations. She can do tea and smile with the best of them, and accomplish nothing. Pity Hillier can't take this file, eh? MacKay will be there, with bells on. Right. Bernier will be the poster boy on this one.

The Foreign Affairs MP will wind up preggers and get out of going. Harper Con politicians are so predictable, especially the religious ones. BTW, doesn't the Guergis family have more important landfill deals to do closer to home than watching a bunch of foreigners do sports far far away?
  82. Vancouver-Kingsway Antics-Shy Voter from Canada writes: Michael Sharp, you pretend to believe in Karma. Make jokes. Laugh it off.

Michael Sharp, Karma does not pretend to believe in you.
  83. H Chu from Canada writes: Shep, do you live in a corrigated hut in Lima? Half the city still have to hike to the river for water.
  84. H Chu from Canada writes:
Sharp is halfway to being a wit, thought he entertains me. Probably lives in a dorm at UVIC.
  85. Vancouver-Kingsway Antics-Shy Voter from Canada writes: H Chu, be careful with Jim Shepherd from Lima Peru. Once someone wished a thousand llamas crap on his grave and POOF they were gone.

Jim Shepherd of Lima Peru is apparently allowed to publish lies and brook no truth.

Some China propagandists and Jim Shepherd of Lima Peru are not so different. Tread carefully. Stay well.
  86. H Chu from Canada writes: Kingsway -Van:

Michael Sharp, Karma does not pretend to believe in you.'

    You speak from ignorance.
Karma doesn't believe in anything, let alone me.

Ever seen a Buddhist monk that wasn't child-like?

Ascetism doesn't sit well with the West, either.
    Never mind China.
  88. Vancouver-Kingsway Antics-Shy Voter from Canada writes: dos cervesas, por favor! H Chu, hoka hey. Stay well.
  89. Michael Sharp from Japanese plum blossomville., Canada writes:

Which would, effectively, make me a half-wit.
H Chu's wit is very dark.
    I can hardly see it.
  90. Vancouver-Kingsway Antics-Shy Voter from Canada writes: I can see it! The answer is: Michael Sharp is a TWIT!

    What do I win?

Dimwit was the correct response, Vancouver-Kingsway.

Let's see what the consolation prize is.

Vanna White enters stage right, her broken hip apparently healed.

'Thanks Bob. Vancouver-Kingsway has won an all expenses paid trip to Toronto Centre where he will dine with Bob Rae and then see the sights of Toronto in his very own...
    Ford F150 pick up truck!!!'

'HOORAY FOR CANADA!', screamed the audience.

    Victoria is not Vancouver, weiner-boy.

    How's the winter going?
  94. Vancouver-Kingsway Antics-Shy Voter from Canada writes: Children are the last thing from ascetists; they are open and free and very wise in ways they might even lose as they gain 'adult hood' Michael.

That some people can retain a child-like innocence and outlook through ages is quite an accomplishment in my reckoning.

Your ignorance of Kharma will be your own undoing: he who cannot see clearly the trail he has walked is as blind to the trail ahead.
  95. Vancouver-Kingsway Antics-Shy Voter from Canada writes: See Frank, he'll even turn on you even if you turn on me. Michael Sharp is an equal-opportunity twit. Sad.
  96. Vancouver-Kingsway Antics-Shy Voter from Canada writes: Frank Lee, didn't your parents ever warn you about getting in between? No? Wonder why...

    Could it be...?
  98. H Chu from Canada writes: Sharp \\

  99. Vancouver-Kingsway Antics-Shy Voter from Canada writes: Michael Sharp, will you own up to these words you wrote?

'Karma doesn't believe in anything, let alone me.'

And if so, can you explain your most recent outbursts against it?

Weiner-boy is a term of affection.
It means I like you, you are as a weiner.
Well, you're not really a weiner.

    But your geography sucks.
  101. Vancouver-Kingsway Antics-Shy Voter from Canada writes: Bring your weiner boy out of your basement, Sharp, see where that gets you.

  104. Vancouver-Kingsway Antics-Shy Voter from Canada writes: BTW, when is PM Harper going to have a talk with the Chinese government Minister AND the Dalia Lama again? Will it be in Harper's offices again?
