The flowers are blooming from Vancouver, Canada writes: Another illiterate use of the word "decimate", which means for 10% to die, not for 10% to survive. 90% death rates means decimation about 10 times over.

    Sheesh.
  2. Rob Aubery from Canada writes: Perfectly clear, pertinent usage of word:
dec·i·mate Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[des-uh-meyt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–verb (used with object), -mat·ed, -mat·ing. 1. to destroy a great number or proportion of: The population was decimated by a plague.
  3. GlynnMhor of Skywall from Canada writes: It's still a misnomer.

Decimation was performed on roman legions that broke or ran away in battle. One in ten of the survivors, chosen by lot, was executed in front of the entire army.
  4. Will ll from Maritimes, Canada writes: This is disturbing. On the selfish side think of all the mosquito eating machines that wont be around. I hope they figure out if it can be transmitted to humans as they get too much of a bad rap as it is.

On another note the way its worded suggests that adventuring cavers go down in the winter but thats really bad for the bats (biologists are necessary sometimes). The ones that wake up wont make it so spring due to the low fat stores the article mentioned. I do recommend going in the warmer months its a whole new world down there.
