  1. Canadian Woman from Canada writes: The president of the IOC is saying nothing - except that he is not going to say anything! He has an opportunity to make a firm statement regarding human rights and China, and he is simply waffling. Basically, he just wants this all to go away so he can hold his games with no hassles. His statements about "boycotts not being a possiblity", and "the Olympics having nothing to do with politics" , as well as "human rights having improved in China" are wishful thinking. What is more important - peoples' lives and their human rights or some athletes playing competitive games? It's not just the Tibetan situation, but also the human rights of the millions within China, and China's support of the dictatoriship in Sudan & it's contributions to the genocide in Darfur, How in the world did China ever get the Olympics in the first place?
  2. Joe Froze from Canada writes: Perfect timing to start the riots in China, angering the Chinese to put an end quick to the turmoil, followed by carnivals paraded by Tibetans immigrants around the world, all happened in time on the eve before the lit up of the Olympic Torch. Dalai Lama is indeed a smoothier and cleverer politician than its mainland counterparts.
  3. A A from Canada writes: Canadian Woman: You don't think the Chinese help the IOC put butter on their bread? Get real! China has tonnes of money to give and I bet it made it's way to the IOC and is funding many programs.

Note to IOC: Should have gone with Toronto. Would have got less negative publicity.
