Financial woes force Equity Showcase to shut
Equity Showcase Theatre, a professional development organization for theatre artists, announced yesterday that it is closing. The Toronto organization, which runs classes and mounts workshop productions, cited continuing financial troubles, including a decrease in support from public and private sponsors.
"In 2004, we lost our Canada Council grant. That was a real kick," artistic producer Mary Pat Mombourquette said yesterday.
