andrei de souza from Toronto, Canada writes: It's true that there is no protocol to follow when determining which countries the torch will pass through. I wouldn't consider it a snub, but more a reflection of what China thinks of Canada. If we were more on their radar screen, the torch would be coming here. The USA, conversely, was seen as a country they could not omit.
It will interesting to see if VANOC returns the favour in 2 years and decides that there isn't room for China on the 2010 torch relay.- Posted 30/03/08 at 6:33 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

R D from Calgary, Canada writes: If the torch came, many of us would go out to protest. How bad would it look for the Vancouver organizers, and our conservative government if Canadians protested the murder of innicent civilians in Tibet.
Harper is China's friend. Yes they murder the opposition and stifle free expression, but they buy our oil!
If you don't believe they are killing people over there, check our Wikileaks! There are videos and images from the ongoing Tibet protests (warning: graphic and disturbing images)- Posted 31/03/08 at 11:52 AM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
