Nerves of steel a must for investors in newsprint

Newsprint is always going to be made because newspapers, we hope, will always be read. But for the companies that produce the newsprint, the future is far less certain – making any investment in AbitibiBowater Inc. only for the very brave.
This year alone, the company's shares are down more than 30 per cent. Plus, Abitibi-Consolidated Inc.'s shares slid 90 per cent in the 10 years prior to merging with Bowater Inc. last year, when shares of the combined entity were reset.
