Canadian exports jump sharply
OTTAWA Canada's merchandise trade surplus with the world increased by more than $2-billion in February to $4.9-billion, as exports rose 3.8 per cent to $39.3-billion and imports fell 2 per cent to $34.4-billion, Statistics Canada said Thursday.
The increase was due to trade with the United States – that surplus rose to $8.1-billion, the widest in more than a year, from $6.29-billion, the highest since the end of 2006.
