Stewart Mawdsley from Fort Smith, NWT, Canada writes: I've said it before - these suits disgust me. Not only does it create an unlevel playing field amongst all competitors, but these records are being broken essentially by cheating. Did previous generations of swimmers have access to this technology? I don't understand what's so complicated? Every swimmer should be forced by the international body to wear the same, very BASIC swimsuit, and that way the winner is determined purely on ability to swim fast. Mind boggling.

Ed Doerksen from Simcoe, Canada writes: To make the playing field evern, Speedo should be willing to provide every swimmer at the Olympics with the new suit reqardless of sponsorship.

Stewart Mawdsley from Fort Smith, NWT, Canada writes: Even then though Ed - I think they're missing the point. What good is a new hybrid swimsuit unless it confers an advantage to somebody? The swimming should just be about one's physical capability, and it's a huge disservice to those who set records previously.
Such suits are specifically designed by these companies because they know wealthier countries will be able to afford them and thereby give an unfair edge to their swimmers.
I reiterate - all Olympic swimmers should be wearing the same basic swimsuit that those in the pool 30 years ago wore.- Posted 14/04/08 at 1:49 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
