Ghism Prescott from Canada writes: Detroit is a better team. Maybe the writer of this article didn't really watch the whole game. Sour grapes? Few people remember Game 5 against Anaheim last year when Pavel Datsyuk got a penalty with a minute to go while Detroit led 1-0 and had a total series lead against Anaheim. You might remember Datsyuk....the Lady Byng winner. An award honoring a gentlemanly player and the least penalized player in the league...and he gets a penalty with one minute to go..and Anaheim ties it. To Detroit's credit ....they didn't complain. They sucked it up...and that was the turning point of the series otherwise Niedermayer would've had to shave his beard way earlier and Brian Blowhard would have more time to appear on TSN. My message back to the associated press and the Nashville Predators.........quit cryin'....and move to Hamilton.

SY GIL from TO, Canada writes: Nashville is an amazing organization. After all they went through this off season as well as the terrible Forsberg trade, they still have enough talents to make the playoffs. It speaks highly of their scouting and talent evaluation.
Detroit looks like they can be had in the next round. Not convinced they are all that strong in nets now that Hasek has passed his prime.- Posted 12/04/08 at 9:23 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

no, it says more about how easy it is to make the playoffs in the NHL.- Posted 13/04/08 at 2:21 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Hap Stokes from Canada writes: Think Sy Gil is bang on, the Preds have pulled a few rabbits out of the hat this year. Predicted for 12th to 15th somehow they scraped in thanks to Trots while Vanc backed out.
Wings will win the Presidents Cup again next year and the next because they play in the weaker Central Div with a pretty fair team. But agree with Sy Gil again, while the Wings are the class of the Central, they won't be so Mugg'en Fugg when they hit the real Western clubs.
Bet Detroit doesn't win the Conference, maybe not even the 2nd Round--The Wings are ripe for plucking out their tail feathers.

Ouch James C... this leaf fan takes that personally :(

Hap Stokes.... careful... take a look at the Wings record against "the best of the west".
Detroit plays a puck possesion game.. and I love watching them. Notice when a forward is rushing one on three.... the forward (with the speed) just flips the puck into the corner and because he has speed he goes and retrieves the puck..... sweet.
I'm still picking SJ from the west... NYR or Flyers out of the east.... probably NYR.

Bill Weston from Grand Rapids, MI, United States writes: So many Wings haters! And look who scores 3 of their 4 goals, those same 'old geezers' everyone accuses Detroit of having to many of.. McCarty, Lidstrom, and Draper. Not sure what happened in the second period when the Predators tied it up, must have been some sort of brain fart. A two goal cushion is usually safe with the Wings. That aside, I thought it was an otherwise solid game for Detroit. We stack up just fine against the other teams in the West likely to come out of round one, thank you very much. Hasek is playing amazing. Did anyone see the Wings whining about that silly call on Hasek in the second period? No, they sucked it up and got on with their game. Go Wings!

For one thing, if Nashville was any decent organization at all, the stupid Forsberg trade never would have happened. The Predators wouldn't even be in the playoffs if our Canucks hadn't meekly turned down the offer of a position.
Looks like Detroit wll lose in the second round this year.- Posted 13/04/08 at 8:45 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

John - from BC Interior, Canada writes: I'm looking forward to the Red Wings getting routed in the second round, although this series isn't over yet. With a few "lucky bounces" of their own, maybe the Preds can extend this series to six or seven games. After all, they were able to beat Detroit three times during the regular season, so they are capable of such a feat.

I would have to concur. Still, it IS the playoffs and anything can happen. We shall see what we shall see.- Posted 13/04/08 at 10:23 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Maybe the Wing haters are just disgruntled Sens fans. I'm not suprised by the Wings play BUT I'm a tad concerned going forward with Dom. He's doing a little more flopping than I'd like to see. I don't think that The Wings have their mind completely on the game yet. When they do, and they will, the shots against will go down. The scoring chances will go down too. I give the Preds full credit for making the playoffs considering the gutting the team took before they got sold. That looks like good drafting, management and coaching to me.- Posted 13/04/08 at 10:50 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Dave The Rave from Ottawa, Canada writes: The Predators simply don't have enough talent to beat the Red Wings. Barry Trotz is an excellent coach, and like Claude Julien in Boston, has gotten his team much further than his personnel would suggest. Dumont, Arnott and Radulov just aren't enough up front (the loss of Steve Sullivan has hurt them again this year), Wings are clearly stronger on D, and the Ellis/Mason combo doesn't match up to Hasek/Osgoode. Watching both games, the gaps are evident. Looks like Wings in 5 at most.

I can understand that part of it, I'd be disgruntled too if the Wings had started the way the Sens did and then suddenly tanked for now single apparent reason. But whats to hate about the Wings? Its not like theyre the dirty Ducks or the Broad Street Bullies. Its not like we've monopolized the Cup lately, let alone stolen anyone elses draft picks!
As for Hasek, the flopping bit has been the rap against him since the day he set foot in the league. Dom is Dom and always will be. Theres no question he's what kept them in the game during that first period yesterday. I dont think anyone on that team wants to win more then the Dominator does this season. He knows his chances at the Cup are numbered now and he'll give it everything he's got every game he plays, which is still a LOT. Im not too worried about any part of Detroits game right now.- Posted 13/04/08 at 11:55 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Bill don't think it's so much hate as it is admiration (envy) of their great organization. Endlessly Detroit either is lucky or more likely plain brilliant in the draft. After expansion and expansion and even more expansion Five of the Original Six Teams; simply 'Tanked' except for the Red Wings. Now that tells you a lot about about that Detroit organization.
As a trucker sometimes get the opportunity to catch sports events from around US & Canada. Red Sox, Islanders, the Indy once, Cubs, Kings and once got real lucky to catch a game at the Joe. Now that Detroit is truly "Hockey Town USA".--Man had a hell'va good time that night. Never got lucky enough to catch any Tiger games though. And for 6 years used to be in the Detroit/Windsor area (4 days a month) so I followed the Detroit teams a lot. In fact Grand R was my favorite grub spot.
Good luck with your Wings Bill. (Hap)- Posted 13/04/08 at 3:13 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
