  1. R Miller from Halifax, Canada writes: The NHL officials need to put an end to that nonsense that Sean Avery was pulling with Martin Brodeur in this game...

What a disgraceful performance that was !
  2. Alpha Sigma from Canada writes: I see the Devils are up to their old tricks again. 2 goals off of skates and a powerplay goal due to a 'close the hand on the puck' swatting it out of the air. How many times in a game does a player swat a puck out of the air? Due to the deficiency of officiating at the best of times I highly doubt a referee could have good enough eyesight to see even if his hand did close around the puck. Refs did their best to hand the game to the Devils.

And as for Avery screening the goalie the way he was...it's called exploitation of rules, or non rules. You know - the same way the Devils got away with their neutral zone trap all those years running interference all over the place.
  3. R Miller from Halifax, Canada writes: Actually, there is a rule about harassing a goaltender in the way that Avery was... Ron Maclean brought it up between periods during the Montreal - Bruins game...

It results in a ten minute misconduct...

The league should be enforcing this rule because Avery's conduct was frankly embarassing...
  4. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: Sorry guys.... totally disagree with all the anti Avery rants.

The guy had his back to the play.... any idea how much padding he has on his back.... and the back of his legs?

Some guys will do anything to win.... Sean Avery is one of those guys.

    Cheers to him.

    Cheers
  5. R Miller from Halifax, Canada writes: Disagree, Scott -- this is exactly the type of antic from an NHL player that both creates a bad image for the sport and sets up hostile reactions on the ice...

Plus, Avery just looks like an ejeet in trying to dance Macru with Brodeur in the midst of a hockey game...

If the league doesn't put a stop to it, one or more of the Jersey D-men likely will, and then there will be another discussion board on the G&M as to why there is so much violence in hockey...
  6. Poster Nutbag from Halifax, Canada writes: Avery is just lucky Hextall wasn't the goalie he was doing his "Dancing With the Stars" number with. He'd still be in surgery- and rightfully so. What next? A Jim Carrey impression with his buttocks?
  7. bob saunders from Canada writes: After Avery got called for goaltender interference when it was actually Brodeur tripping Avery I'd do what I could to get Brodeur off his game.
  8. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: Apparently I'm not allowed to talk about Avery.... two post cut so far.

    Nice

Nothing wrong and a brave play... his back was wide open to pain.

He can play for my team..

    Cheers
  9. R Miller from Halifax, Canada writes: Fortunately for Avery's sake, Brodeur has alot more class and sanity than Hextall did, but why should he be punished for that fact?

lol Scot Loucks is becoming a polemcist, I love it...

If Avery tries to do the macarena in front of Brodeur in Jersey, I predict that he could have a lot more than a back "wide open to pain."

Scot... You mean that Leaf fans would actually want this guy?

Tucker and Avery on the same team?

    How annoying is that?
  10. J R from Halifax, Canada writes: Robert,

This is one leaf fan that would NOT want Avery on the team. I've had enough embarassing moments as a leaf fan this year and would not need Avery making it worse. Having said that....I have a sinking feeling he will be in the blue and white next year!

Scot, I get what you are saying about doing anything to win but I think it went too far. It was just plain silly. Yes his back was exposed and I am surprised his teammates didnt drill him in the spine. I didn't pick up in the replay who it was but one of the Rangers did say something to him.

Imagine you want to put a shot on net and the guy there isnt even looking to tip it in.

He has some talent and can play tough but he is an embarassment to the game!
  11. Neil no more last name from Mississauga, Canada writes: Don't need or want Avery on my team (the Leafs). Of course he'll probably end up their knowing the organization. I will forsake my beloved Leafs if they sign him. He's no good for a team trying to get their respectability back.

    A) guys are in front of the net to screen AND deflect. Who's going to whistle a shot on net, when their player's back is turned? I would argue it makes the D-man at the point hesitant, and therefore is detrimental to his own team.

    B) no Class - even Drury skated over and told him to put his stick down.

    C) No player should be waving their stick above shoulder level, regardless of their place on the ice. Can easily lead to an accidental slash to the head. Biron would've dealt with him Hextall style.

    D) He just gave Brodeur some motivation, which he seemed to lack in the 1st 2 games.

conclusion - Idiot player, idiot move.
  12. R Miller from Halifax, Canada writes: JR from Halifax and Neil no more from Mississauga:

Actually I never really thought about this before, but considering how dysfunctional the Leafs are, I would also not be surprised if the Leafs did end up signing Avery next season...

I would think that they would be looking for a young talented Canadian kid with leadership qualities and a history of winning (ie. Brad Richards type) to build a future around, but Avery's cheap, sideshow antics will fill the seats with bums.... Thereby preserving cash flow to MLS&E.

Yes, Sean Avery to the Leafs makes perfect sense now...
  13. dan vanman from vancouver, Canada writes: Well Scot...there is another thread all devoted to Avery...and the consensus is that it was a disgrace....but hey, you are entitled to your opinion.

I wish the Devils point m,an had pounded one in that went off that no padding area...maybe he would have thought agqain about such a stupid thing to do.

BTW Scot...the NHL doesn't agree. Its a 2 minute penalty if he does it again. Unsportsmanlike conduct. Which it was...but thats only my opinion.
