Gavin Nettlefold from Canada writes: I tried hard to get tickets, but no dice. GSP is the most classy, respectful athlete in the world. He's a sports icon no matter what the outcome. Go Georges!

Thomas Morris from New York, NY, United States writes: Huge fan. Serra is a tough guy and it will be a good fight. But I think for him to win again, it will be a large percentage of luck. In my mind GSP is a true ulitmate fighter - he has all the skills - and I think he will win.

Kim Philby from Canada writes: Yep, I think Serra is going to have a tough time Saturday night. GSP is a great technician (fearsome kicks and solid ground work), and he's not likely to underestimate Serra this time.
Obviously this here Canuck is rooting for GSP, but I would like to see the fight go at least three rounds before GSP takes it with a) a roundhouse right on the button, or b) ground and pound from the mount.- Posted 15/04/08 at 1:37 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Mister G. from Canada writes: I wish I could be there but ill settle with PPV. I am a huge fan of GSP and I don't like cocky Serra.
Good luck George.- Posted 15/04/08 at 8:58 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Tito Aviles from Brandon,Fl., United States writes: George is by far the classiest of all MMA fighters. One of the most talented in all sports. I'm confident he will fight Serra as a professional and minimize the emotional motivation. He can only beat himself in this fight. Serra is uncanny and should not be taken lightly. He still has a puncher's chance. If George maintains his adrenaline in check, he will undoubtably win. Can't wait to see how it comes out.

Sanjay Singh from Waterloo, Canada writes: My Fellow Ontarians, Everyone has said all that needs to be said about Georges St. Pierre. He is a gentleman, and a man of honor, and has the toughness that will make him a champion again. Matt Serra is a good man, and a good team mate and mentor as was shown on the reality show. He has fighting spirit and is mentally tough. Naturally though, without making this a symbolic Canada vs. USA thing, the smart money is gonna be on GSP. === But... I want to ask about WHY they have UFC events in Quebec and I think in Alberta too, but NOT in Ontario. I believe this is the doings of one Ken Hayashi, the Ontario Athletics Commisioner. He is the one person holding back the implementation of MMA into Ontario. How many strong Canadian heroes remain undiscovered in the midst of Canada's most populous provice thanks to Ken Hayashi? We need more people like GSP and I know that we have more than a few in Ontario, waiting to be discovered. We need these UFC fighters to remind us of the strength we have in our people, and to re-ignite martial arts interest in young people. Ken Hayashi has dropped hints about first having amateur MMA, and then the "possibility of considering" professional MMA in the future. This is just double-speak for him stonewalling this as long as possible. I hope that people will write to the appropriate person above Ken Hayashi, and demand that MMA be established in Ontario without further delay and that Ken Hayashi be removed from his position effective immediately. He is a blight on the development of martial arts in Ontario, and he has to be stripped of all authority in these matters. Please help in bringing professional MMA to Ontario by lobbying politicians and demanding the dismissal of Ken Hayashi.

Jack Kennedy from Canada writes: I was in Montreal in late Nov 2006, a week or so after he won the championship. We were out at a bar and we bumped into Georges and I can say, he is a very down-to-earth dude and one hell of a nice guy. We chatted about his recent win and I told him that I didnt see the fight and was curious how he won. His response, "well, I came out and kicked him in the head". It was priceless....

Phil M from Toronto, Canada writes: Sanjay Singh, right on! A big part of why GSP became a champion in the UFC is that he was able to train, and then compete, locally in Montreal. The TKO organisation (and others) out there gives opportunities to lots of local athletes. It's a terrible shame that young wanna-be fighters in Ontario don't have the same opportunity. It's kind of hard to pony up the dough to go train/fight abroad when you're an up-and-comer, and promoters aren't often going to shell out the bucks to fly an unproven fighter and his corner to their events when there is usually a surfeit of local rookies.
It's a catch-22 for Ontario guys: they can't get the wins on their records at local shows, and they don't get invited to out-of-province (or country) shows until they establish a winning record. Why is Ken Hayashi still commissioner? He is singlehandedly preventing the development of a fast-growing sport in Ontario; a sport in which Canadians in other parts of the country have shown great skill and interest.- Posted 16/04/08 at 10:12 AM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
