Politics hinders B.C. group's Everest trek

NELSON, B.C. — Freezing conditions, deadly ice falls and almost a complete lack of oxygen make climbing Mount Everest nearly impossible, but a Canadian team is finding that political hurdles can be almost as daunting. The Peak Freak Expeditions, based out of Nelson, B.C., wants to climb to the summit of the world's tallest mountain, but it has collided with Chinese government plans to take the Olympic flame to the top of the world in May.
