Bill Weston from Grand Rapids, MI, United States writes: This story epitomomizes the difficulty for the fans in cheering for "their team" in the forced parity, salary cap NHL.. probably in most major sports actually. Decisions about keeping players on the roster are based primarily on finances now, considerations like loyalty and popularity taking a backseat at best and thrown right out the window at worst. I remember growing up as a Red Wings fan and being able to name every player on the roster year to year and half the guys down in Adirondack as well. Now its all "well, we like him but can we afford to keep him under the cap?" By the time a team gets a dozen players all in their prime, you've got to let half of them go and bring in the kids who'll play for the minimum wage. Makes it very hard to be a 'loyal' fan nowadays and makes me realize just how lucky the Wings are to have players that are maybe willing to play for less in Detroit then they could perhaps make by going elsewhere, just to play for this organization. My sympathies to the Wild fans.

Sean O'Reilly from Canada writes: Fire their coach, Minnesota is a good hockey market and its being wasted with a coaching style that is anything but entertaining.
Glad they are out, but the market deserves a better product.- Posted 22/04/08 at 12:00 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

max from edmonton from Canada writes: I hope the Wild dismantle the team and start over. This should ensure they miss the playoffs for a year or two. One less team for Edmonton to have to beat out for eighth spot!
