Wellington West hires third mining analyst

Three seems to be the magic number of mining analysts need at an independent dealer, as Wellington West on Friday became the second dealer in as many days to add a veteran analyst to a two-person team.

Paolo Lostritto is coming aboard at employee-owned Wellington West Capital Markets as a senior mining analyst, focusing on gold and precious metal plays. He will be working alongside Catherine Gignac and Steve Parsons.

Mr. Lostritto, a mining engineer by training, has spent the past 11 years in mining research, first working at TD Securities, then spending five years at Scotia Capital where covered both the diamond and precious metals sectors.

Blackmont Capital, which has a similar focus, announced Thursday that it hired a third mining analyst: Craig Stanley will follow junior resource stocks.
