As the minutes moved closer to the midnight deadline some streetcar drivers turned their signs to Not in Service and stop taking any passengers. Others headed toward the end of their lines, dropping passengers off along the way. At the corner of Roncesvalles Avenue and Queen Streets empty cars rattled through the intersection one after the other to park in the west end station for about 30 minutes after midnight.
