Should justice be race-neutral? A Montreal judge thinks not. Last week, she granted bail to a Mohawk named Davin Johnny, who was arrested during the posthockey street brawl in Montreal. "We have to take into account the fact you are a native American," she explained. Mr. Johnny, who's on welfare, was caught on videotape trashing a police car. At his bail hearing, the police reported that he'd said he'd do it again, because he "hate[s] the pigs.
