Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: I'm 10 for 12 .... Missed both Dallas series.
Makes me wonder if I should bet on Dallas in this round..... uh no.
Dallas has that chip it out mentality, they play the trap.... Detroit is a puck control team.... meant to beat the trap. Dallas will just give it back to them and they will circle and attack again.
Detroit in 6. (probably 5)
btw; Winner of this series wins the cup.
Both the Flyers and Pens are loaded with youth, potential and inexperience. The fact that Biron is 30 and finally getting his chance leads me to give the goalie edge to the Flyers.
I like 3 things about Philly. 7 players with more than 20 goals... and that doesn't include Umberger. Bigger size wise..... Second best powerplay in the league this year and it's still working in the playoffs.
I am really looking forward to watching this series .... and I am going to go against majority opinion.
Flyers in 6.

bob orr from Amish Country, United States writes: Scot, I guess we'll be a minority of two, although I think the Flyers will need 7 to subdue the Pens.
I should ride the underdog in the other series, just for the fun of it. Ah, what the heck. Dallas in 6. Can't let a European captain (Detroit's Lidstrom) lift the Cup, eh?
Ken Hitchcock will referee the finals then.
And there's no truth to the rumour that they'll use Beaver Stadium (the home of Penn State football) in this all-Pennsylvania series. Gettysburg, maybe, but not Beaver Stadium.- Posted 06/05/08 at 11:45 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Gettysburgh???
But Pittsburgh is further North then Philadelphia...
Surely you are not suggesting that we will see a re-enactment of Pickett's charge from your Flyers ?

bob orr from Amish country, United States writes: R M from NS: It's gonna be a war, pure and simple.
But if you look at it in another perspective: The Confederacy had the big-name generals -- Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson... much as the Penguins do today in Crosby and Malkin. The Union had a second-tier leader in George G. Meade (Grant and Sherman were busy in the south at the time of the battle).
If you are so inclined and ever have the opportunity, you should visit the battlefield park. It's truly an experience. (Off-topic, but...)
I just wish these series were starting sooner. Once the playoffs start, it's tough to go a day without a game.- Posted 07/05/08 at 2:06 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

re. Gettysburgh --- Been there, done that, bought the book...
All kidding aside -- Gettysburgh was a fantastic experience and is a site that I highly personally recommend that all North Americans should see... Saw it as part of a summer that I took off to drive across the good Old USA.
PS Stonewall ... that would be Fleury.

Brian Marto from Toronto, Canada writes: These are going to be two hard fought conference finals, the speed and finesse of Detroit vs the gritty Stars. The Stars have nothing to loose I think this one will go down to the wire with Wings taking it in 7 ,
The Pens and Flyers another tough one to call , Flyers are deep can throw 4 lines, my heart goes with the Pens on this one but I am sensing a upset, but I am going with the Pens in 7
The finals will be two tired teams Detroit vs Pittsburgh I will go out on a limb here again, the Pens can skate and so can Detroit but both teams will tighten up it will come down to the goalies, I am going to take Pittsburgh to win the cup in 7- Posted 07/05/08 at 6:18 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Dave The Rave from Ottawa, Canada writes: Wings completely flattened Dallas tonight; geez, this game could've been 6-1 for the Red Wings. Philly just lost their key shutdown guy in Timmonen. Hopefully these two series will be over soon so we can see Detroit and Pittsburgh battle for the Cup.
