D'Antoni can't talk to Toronto

Wow. Still digesting a Chuckless future.

In the meantime, here's a little tidbit for all those who might be wondering why soon-to-be former Phoenix Suns coach Mike D'Antoni has somehow not yet been teleported to the Raptors, Sam Mithchell not withstanding.

Two league sources have confirmed that when the Suns agreed to give D'Antoni permission to talk to other clubs, the Bulls and the Knicks in particular, there was one condition: they would not grant permission to D'Antoni to talk with the Raptors.

The suggestion was that the Toronto ban was initiated by the Suns and reflective of the desire of Suns owner Robert Sarver to not be seen to doing any favours for current Raptors president and former Suns general manager Bryan Colangelo. There is no indication the Raptors were seeking permission to talk with Phoenix.

  2. D D from Canada writes: Who cares...D'Antoni would not provide much of an improvement over Mitchell...The guy has had a number of chances with a team oozing with talent, All Stars, and MVP's...yet still can't coach to a finals appearance. The run and gun style is nice to watch, but when the shots don't go down they don't win when there is no D at the other end.
  3. Shawn Bull from Canada writes: Why would we want to bring in a coach who is nutorious for not teaching/coaching defense.
  4. Big Cayman from South Toronto, Canada writes: "Wow. Still digesting a Chuckless future." Yes Michael it may take some time to get rid of the Salami, Cheese (especially the cheese) and baby onions caked up in your system. It's maybe not too late to 'up-Chuck', but I'm sure you will feel much better once the toxins are expelled. It might be a good thing to play it safe and give yourself a spoonfull of Pepto for the nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach and diarrhea cause by the Raps organization this year. Still its's a good thing Swirsky didn't land in Philly, home of the cheese-steak and hoagie, it might have been more than he could chew.
  5. Frank Castor from Zephyr, Canada writes: We'll miss you Chuck.

Shawn Bull go hide back under that rock you peeked out from, scumbag.

Big Cayman, you are hilarious man, take that show on the road.
  6. albert strauss from Toronto, Canada writes: This is a strange business where even the coaches cannot be approached. It smells like there is some thing "non-competitive" in restraint of some thing which the teams have agreed to. How does a person improve oneself? Frankly I think Triano might be a good replacement for the incumbent. Improvement has to start somewhere and that position is pretty basic governs the whole project.
  7. Roger S from Canada writes: Is D'Antoni a winner? Even he is an upgrade to Sam.
  8. albert strauss from Toronto, Canada writes: We have lost out on Larry Brown, Rick Carlsle, and now Mike D'Antoni. How many more do we have to lose to the Teachers monthly pension cheques before there is a negative backlash toSam and his incompetence. These are proven winners and turn around artists not beginners and there are more whence these came. Wake up Brian and tell Larry and the Teachers what you need or else you will go down with the ship
