Where else would such an outrage be tolerated?

When the Auditor-General delivers an uncharacteristically mild report, some columnists lament the lack of scandal. Others opt to insert it themselves.

Yes, it's troubling that the Canada Border Services Agency has lost track of 41,000 illegal immigrants. This newspaper said so itself. But if our "insanely generous immigration and refugee system" is making us "a haven for the world's hoodlums," I'd hate to see how certain other countries - ones where, say, they've lost track of millions of illegal immigrants - would be described.

  1. Robert McClelland from London, Canada writes: 'the Canada Border Services Agency has lost track of 41,000 illegal immigrants.'

Did they check under the sofa cushions?
  2. Jasper the Black Lab from Vancouver and Elsewhere, Canada writes: Actually, if our immigration and refugee system was so 'insanely generous' as some suggest, wouldn't these persons be fully legal immigrants?
  3. pierre lefebvre from Brossard, Canada writes: A surprise 41,000 Liberals have left the country. Now I understand why Dion is a lost soul. Did they leave behind the money they stole during Adscam days?
  4. Michael Sharp from Victoria., Canada writes:

    Oh Adam.

    The 'perspective' argument.

As in, it's OK if Saddam kills 2 million but not OK if the US kills 70,000 to remove Saddam.

    It's called moral ambivalence, Adam.

And you, sir, are guilty as charged.
  5. J Hare from Saskatoon, Canada writes: OK, lets just look at the math of this. There are 33,390,141 people living in Canada. 41,000 people are 'unknown' or illigal. That means that 0.0012% of the Canadian population is made up by those 41,000 people. In contrast there are 301,139,947 people in the USA. If 12,000,000 are illigal or 'unknown' that mean 0.04% of their population falls into that catagory. So who has a bigger, insignifigant problem?

    James Hare
  6. Jasper the Black Lab from Vancouver and Elsewhere, Canada writes: Uh, Michael Sharp, I do believe you have twisted your argument backwards, sir.
  7. Honest Williams vs Honest Dions vision for CANADA ! Draft Danny from Canada writes: pierre lefebvre from Brossard, Canada writes: A surprise 41,000 Liberals have left the country. Now I understand why Dion is a lost soul. Did they leave behind the money they stole during Adscam days?
