Travels with my Happy Buddha
I have a travel tip for you. Never slip on the ice just before you're supposed to leave on a three-week trip to Asia.
After I slipped, I crawled home and watched my throbbing knee swell up like a balloon. I couldn't walk on it at all. My heart sank. The object of the trip was to get away from Toronto's long, mean winter, but winter had exacted its revenge.
Just in case there was a miracle cure, I phoned my doctor, who is so old that he still takes phone calls.
