I feel particularly sorry for the child stuck with the handle "Jinger". I mean, come on, what is that?? When you have that many kids, you're definitely going to run out of names.- Posted 09/05/08 at 2:15 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

DM Blog.com from Calgary, Canada writes: Jim Bob - that's hilarious enough in itself. My mother has a hard enough time remembering our 4 names as it is - I can't imagine how bad it'd be if they all started with the same letter, and there were 18 of us. Yikes.

Stefanie Higney from Toronto, Canada writes: I wonder if they go through a lot of name tags? I can't imagine being pregnant for 11 years...this woman either A) has the patience of a saint B) has always been slightly soft in the head or C) is a complete nutcase due to constant mental strain. I think I'll keep an eye out for that documentary just to see how they deal.

Puntal Puntal from Calgary, Canada writes: I'd wager $1,000 that these are the same people who, if they found out a Muslim family had 18 kids with the goal of pleasing Allah, would be crying out to stem the tide.
And "Jigger??" Maybe at kid # 6 they found their sense of humour.
What this woman needs, really, is a few well-timed "headaches." Take that, Jim-Bob-Billy-Joe-Joe-Shabadoo Duggar.- Posted 09/05/08 at 2:53 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Amanda Symmonds from Toronto, Canada writes: The whole "its a vagina, not a clown car" joke comes to mind. Seriously, though, I feel sorry for the elder children - I jave an acquaintance who was the eldest of 13 and spent most of his later childhood and adolescence raising numerous younger siblings. He has no desire for kids of his own now ...

CHP My vote from who ville, Canada writes: Some of you really need to lay off. These people are happy no doubt, and as an earlier poster put it, are lucky to be able to have kids period. Becuase you're deluded and figure your career is more important than family, that's fine. Don't judge other people 'cause they want to have a big family.

Crystal Glass from Canada writes: Actually, Jinger is supposed to be pronounced like Ginger. If you read about this woman's "parenting" skills (the young children are matched with an older one and the elder is responsible for them, including their homeschooling) and the diet this brood is fed...disgusting.

bethany middleton from Canada writes: If you check their portrait gallery, you'll see the boys roughhousing, playing and generally carousing (and occasionally praying) while the girls are...wait for this...in the kitchen, ironing, helping with laundry, brushing their sisters' hair, and holding the baby. What do you want to bet they don't learn about evolution in school, either?

Dan Thomas from Canada writes: Other than the names part, big deal. My grandma came from a family of 16 kids and she had 8 herself and my mom had 5 kids. It's only news because it's not common anymore.

Janice Cooper from West Kootenays, British Columbia, Canada writes: Sounds like Jim Bob can repopulate the place without the need for celestial wives.
If they can love and support all those kids, more power to them. It wouldn't be my choice, but if they're happy, good for them. I just wonder how good it is for a woman to have so many kids, one after the other, with little time in between.
We had a litter of 8 lab puppies; their one trip to the vet en masse was enough of a logistical challenge to make me quite happy that I only had 3 kids!- Posted 09/05/08 at 5:55 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Nature Lover from Canada writes: All you gotta be to have a pile of kids is RICH. All the power to them if they can afford to care for their children adequately and don't mind the ENORMOUS workload. I looked at the photo gallery but didn't see any boys rough-houseing. Just posed shots of the family.
Must be fun, (for the kids) and their house is huge. You gotta love childbirth, laundry, dishes etc.

Craig Cooper from Toronto, writes: Why do so many goofballs in this forum have a problem with this?
These people aren't doing anything wrong.
They are not using drugs or somehow circumventing the natural process of conception and birth.
Having children and raising a family is perfectly normal.
Ever stop to think that this perhaps is what nature intended?

Richard S from Canada writes: Between the 18 children and the 650 sq. m (= 6500 SQ. FT.) home, they leave a huge ecological footprint. This kind of consumption and disregard for sustainability has gotten us into this mess in the first place. I'm certainly not against families, but show some responsibility, please. What kind of future do we wish to leave them?

Sleepy Head from Canada writes: If I were rich, I'd adopt. Damn straight.
And their photos are creepy. According to their site, the eldest girls (not the eldest, which is a boy) do the cooking. Yep. And all the women, mom included, have the same hairstyle: the huge WT poofy bangs in front, with long, kinda curly hair in the back. Nice.- Posted 09/05/08 at 11:40 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
