Canada offers to send relief team to Myanmar

OTTAWA — Canada has told the United Nations that it is prepared to send its disaster assistance response team to Myanmar to help the starving survivors of a cyclone that some observers say could claim as many as 100,000 lives. But there was no assurance yesterday that the Canadian offer will be accepted by the military government that is a pariah to much of the world, including Canada, as a result of its human-rights record.
