  1. Pat Billings from CDN, Canada writes: Unless Biron stands on his head, they Flyers have no hope.

In this game, he looked more like a 30yr old career back goaltender than the guy who singlehandedly took care of the Habs.
  2. Dave The Rave from Ottawa, Canada writes: With Timmonen, Philadelphia had that steadying presence and ability to shut down the other team's gunners. Without him, there's a hole that Malkin and company can blast right through. Biron looked OK, but not much you can do against a Geno slapper ten feet out. Stevens is a great coach, but so is Therrien, and the Pens more than match the Flyers in terms of character...and they have The Malkinator.
  3. Scot Loucks from Pickering, Canada writes: Still betting on the Flyers

    Cheers
  4. Proud Canadian from Canada writes: Scotty, u might be a little short in the pocket come the end of this one. But you may not either. Was tuning it in during commercials and recks during the NASCAR race, sorry, cant do that Bob Cole stuff, but what I saw, Pittsburg played pretty well.
  5. Nicolas Perrot from Ottawa, Canada writes: Fleury impressed me tonite. He's not a young fragile goaltender anymore. On Lupul's breakaway in the first he didn't panick, and instead pulled a Marty Turco by extending his paddle. Nice agressive move.

The flyers tried to slow down the pens but i agree with dave, phili needs timmonen. Once pittsburgh gets into their groove its hard to stop them.
  6. John - from BC Interior, Canada writes: If that's all the Flyers have, they don't stand a chance against Pittsburg. I have to see how they play the next game, before I write them off though.

Although I'm not much of a Sid fan, I'd much prefer the Pens advance to the final rather than the Flyers. I likely wouldn't watch a Philly/Detroit final, but I would if the Pens advance.
  7. George S from Toronto, Canada writes: Hard to believe this was the same Flyers that took out my Habs in short order. They really looked out of their league last night.
  8. Sissy Schuss from Canada writes: No word from Briere - the Flyers will bounce back - though I am bettting on Pittsburgh. If it wasn't for Malkin's tenacious play and over the top effort this would have been a closer game. Malkin for MVP (yeah I know it applies only to the regular season - but if this is how he lifted his team into first place overall in Crosby's absence then he really does deserve it).

Pat, how do you think the Flyers got this far? The Pens have too much talent to let this thing go seven. You can't intimidate them. You're not going to outwork them. The Pens 3rd line is as good as the top line for the Flyers. The Flyers have no answer and I'd be suprised to see it go six.

    Go Pens...
  10. Dave The Rave from Ottawa, Canada writes: The Malkinator was only one reason why the Pens were dominant. Crosby and Sykora's goals demonstrated how they have too many weapons for the Flyers to stop. A close look at this game shows how Pittsburgh controlled the play after they took a 4-2 lead. Philly had only nine shots in the third, and never threatened. Where were Umberger and Briere? Prospal? Hartnell? Upshall? Lupul? Except for Richards' play, this would not have been close at all. John Stevens was pretty clear in his criticism of his team: too many turnovers. And three players penalized in the last two minutes when they should have been trying to come back? Not smart. The Flyers are not a good defensive team, and unlike Montreal, Pittsburgh takes advantage of their opportunities. The Pens' blueline is as big and tough as the Flyers, and they can bottle up a team in the neutral zone. Fleury is more than a match for Biron. Unless we see a dramatically transformed Philly squad on Sunday (and even then, the loss of Timmonen is a major hole), this series will be short.
  11. Ian m from New York (via Vancouver), United States writes: Pittsburgh has far too much talent and really no glaring weakness. The Flyers can't win this one and that's the way it should be - good riddance to them.
