MacLeod: Triple Trouble

CLEVELAND – The Jays may never score another run again.

With runners at first and second in a runless game in the fifth inning, Lyle Overbay hit a sinking liner over the head of the pitcher that had single written all over it.

But Asdrubal Cabrera had other ideas for Cleveland.

With the hit and run on, Cabrera dove toward second base and made a great catch right beside second base for the first out.

Cabrera then stepped on second to force out Kevin Mench, who was on his way to third. Cabrera then tagged Marco Scutaro who was at second base for an unassisted triple play.

For the Jays, it was the sixth time in franchise history they've had a triple play turned against them, but this was the first unassisted triple play they've had to endure.

Oh, the shame of it all.
