Investors applaud EnCana split

The decision by EnCana Corp. to split into two publicly traded companies was enthusiastically received by investors, who sent EnCana shares to a new high Monday and set off speculation that one or both of the proposed new entities would be attractive takeover targets. EnCana stock closed up 6.6 per cent, to $92.20, as analysts crunched the numbers and increased their target prices for EnCana.
