Commander Groovechild from Canada writes: This is the sort of research that I personally find exciting. We can meaningfully help people by changing the way we do things. True enough it might be a long road in terms of reducing outdoor air pollution, but let's get started on making indoor air quality as high as possible. So if the carpets, household cleaning products, adhesives, paints or the heating system is releasing elevated particulate levels or unusual gases, we should develop focus groups to bring about changes to green our lives. We can create so many freaking jobs by helping people.

John Melnick from High River AB, Canada writes: Issues like this are a clear and present danger - far in excess of that posed by AGW. But guess what: fix this problem and AGW gets addressed albeit peripherally. Problem is, air, ground and water pollution are lost in the background noise created by AGW while the high priests line their pockets.

Iain's Opinion from Canada writes: Gosh air pollution is bad. What a novelle concept. Next thing we'll hear is that intensive agriculture has reduced the nutritional value of our foods and causes cancer and latex is a precursor to cancer, too bad you painted your house and buy food at the grocery store!

Jim Shepherd from Lima, Peru writes: I am just fine sleeping in an economy class seat on 8 hour flights to Toronto, and have no problem putting in a full day of meetings directly afterwards.
Those that will invent any excuse to fly Business Class, and get pissed in the Lounge before they even board the plane, tend to suffer a different fate.
Lose 40 pounds, ask for water, walk to the washroom for an undetectable puff occasionally, and economy is not so bad. Best Regards.- Posted 13/05/08 at 1:45 AM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Nickstar One from Canada writes: The Ban gang won't like this one bit. This is direct competition for their favourite bogeyman, the recently discovered, death dealing, "SHS epidemic of toxic poison" and the rest of the "related", nonsense that stems from their extremist views. Since millions of vehicles are responsible for contributing Megatonnes(as opposed to milligrams) of air pollution leading to blood clots, those 16 years and under, must be banned from vehicles to minimize the risk of blood clots. Rest assured the health-scare prone Dalton Gang with their "toughest ban" mentality, will "make it so".

J S from Toronto, Canada writes: Thanks goodness we are finally connecting the dots between air pollution and negative health affects with scientific studies. Perhaps one day the sky in Toronto will be blue again and I won't have to wipe the greasy black particulate matter off my face when I go for a bike ride. In the meantime the stench of automobile exhaust hangs in the air so strong downtown you can barely smell anything else.

larry price from Port Loring ON, Canada writes: I've wondered how they separate statistics between chemical pollution and cigarette smoke. On a rare visit to Toronto, I saw smokers standing outside in that soup of pollution.

rick Crammond from Victoria, Canada writes: Last year , the US EPA, the world Health Organization and the United Nations all agreed that the "Health Issue Of The Decade" was particulates.
When we examine the mechanism of how buckyball particulate particles are the delivery system for disease, we see how most cancer, stroke and heart disease are primarily caused by these substances.
Particulates are caused by the incorrect use of technology. Diesel engines are a good example with 500 times (50,000 percent) more fine particulate emitted than gasoline engines of the same size.
Due to recent patents and innovations, we now have the opportunity to convert to a better form of technology that includes complete burning with no particulate emissions, and even a bottling of the only gas emitted from the enclosed vortex burn process...CO2.- Posted 14/05/08 at 6:01 AM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
