From Paris to court

Former Hollinger exec Peter Atkinson, who is appealing his two-year sentence for fraud as part of the Conrad Black trial, likes his travel and on several occasions has asked the judge in the case for permission to do some globetrotting with his wife. While awaiting trial and now while living in Toronto on appeal, Mr. Atkinson has already gone to Austria, Mexico and Italy on trips with his wife. Recently, he asked the court for leave - and got it - to travel to Paris and Budva, Montenegro, from June 4 to June 14 to accompany his wife, a nutrition scientist, to professional conferences. It's not clear how Mr. Atkinson intends to juggle the trip with his appeal, which recently was set for June 5.
