Safety

From Thursday's Globe and Mail

The IS F's basic safety gear includes stability control, traction control, antilock brakes with brake assist, front-seat knee and side airbags and full-length head curtain airbags all standard.

The active safety systems are integrated through a sport-tuned Lexus Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management system. That means stability control, traction control and ABS work together to keep the vehicle on the road and between the lines.

Still, the IS F has not been officially crash-tested, nor is it likely to be. But its sibling, the IS 350, has and in U.S. government tests earned four stars (out of a possible five) in front impacts (driver and passenger) and a best-possible five stars for front side impacts and four stars for rear side impacts.

The U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the IS 350 its top rating of "good" after administering frontal-offset and side-impact crash tests.

All that's nice to know when you are doing 270 km/h, the IS F's top speed.
