T M from Calgary, Canada writes: Anyone who writes a comment like San Tomas is obviously not a fan of the show - so I ask you San, M Kwad, Jim and Peter, why even bother reading a fun travel piece dedicated to locations on a show you have no interest in? What are your interests? Adventure travel? Sunday afternoon sports? Theatre? Read about those instead of deliriously bashing something that may give someone else a bit of pleasure and escapism from the rat race.

Carolyn Bongiorno from Glenham,NY, United States writes: I grew up in NYC and spent some 33 years there. SATC is a fantasy, but a joyful one. My own borough of the Bronx is not a glamorous place, but a hardscrabble county of poor immigrants and poor Americans. The white girls who shone on Michael Patrick King's series were better educated, English-speaking, and svelte; they had plum jobs, great apartments, and all made it to age 35 without bearing children (like the "Seinfeld" crew). You have to be willing to indulge in the fantasy and suspend your disbelief. It was a tonic for our troubled times, and a valentine to NY.
Of course, I've never paid over $500 dollars for shoes, I don't ride cabs everywhere when the subway's just as efficient, and alas, I've never had a Mr. Big to usher me into the world of luxury. But I am a girl, and I can still get a vicarious thrill watching these talented actresses enjoy the freedoms that economic independence gives modern women. Let's hope the series ends here (I've already heard talk about a second SATC movie) on a good note. Thanks for the memories, SJP, Kim, Kristen and Cynthia.- Posted 17/05/08 at 8:12 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Anger Equals Danger from Canada writes: Life is short people. If you say you don't care about SATC, or about the article or the people or places mentioned in it, WTF is the point of making a comment at all???? What purpose does it serve, other than to show others your lack of havig anything better to do???
I just don't get the appeal of bashing an article or person's comments just for the sake of bashing.

Tina Kaur from Canada writes: opinion in Toronto- tourism in Toronto bounced back by about 30% last year despite the dollar and such. I have volunteered in one of the museums in downtown Toronto and I have seen first hand how the during the summer season, the line ups to get inside (and this isnt even one of the major museums) snakes up around the block.
As for NYC, I have never really bought into its hype and I do watch this occasionally and nothing in this show makes me itch to go to NYC. I still want to go there though because everyone who has been there raves about it.- Posted 20/05/08 at 4:04 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Was Canadian from New York, United States writes: John Deriso from Edmonton - there are a million more reasons to come to NYC than to "buy things [you] saw a celebrity talking about" (though I suspect the same cannot be said of Edmonton).
Bobby the K from Bogarttown - wow - the pictures are airbrushed?!?! That changes my whole paradigm! Really, pu-lease, what's your point? It's darling that you think so highly of your 'contribution' to put in a link.
Dennis X from Regina - who apparently has better things to do than watch SATC or Seinfeld - or perhaps doesn't since he has the time to comment that he's never watched the show.
Is it stupid that people visit places because fictional characters were there? I dunno - but people who live in Green Gabled houses shouldn't throw stones.- Posted 20/05/08 at 5:07 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Mister Kong from Toronto!, Canada writes: I think Toronto's pretty unique if actually get out and experience it. It's not really as cosmopolitan as New York but I'm not sure that would be very Canadian would it? It would be good if one of our networks developed a good show about Toronto's nightlife, fashion, and fun. It's definately out there to be experienced and very different from New York and the other large Canadian and American Cities.
As for the non-fans at the top of the string, I'm sure there are a number of people who read this article who are not a fans of politics or sports or what ever you DO care about. However I doubt they felt it neccisary to make disparaging comments about Globe articles on those subjects.- Posted 21/05/08 at 4:13 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

You're most likely redundant from Canada writes: Can't wait to see SATC bomb at the box office, after while everyone - well, most lucid and rational people, that is - will see it for what it's really worth: garbage tv about a flock of superficial, empty, inane, vacuous women who spend their time talking about the same things over and over again: sex, shopping and failed relationships.
Why this drivel was such a hit is beyond me.- Posted 22/05/08 at 9:56 AM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

The facts have a well known liberal bias from Upper Southwest Township, Canada writes: I watched one episode too many of the TV series. That is, I watched it once. It baffled me why anyone enjoyed it -- cookie-cutter characters, rampant (though bi-directional) sexist stereotyping, self-regard passed off as a virtue, vapidity raised to a pinnacle of admiration.

Richard Hawrelak from Sarnia, Canada writes: Carolyn Bongiorno from Glenham,NY, United States: I second your post. I worked at the AIChE in NY, near the UN, for a couple years. My heart always took a flutter at 5 pm when all the office girls quit work and headed for the subway on a run in their fine dresses AND running shoes. My fantacy was being able to keep up to one of them and asking if she had time for lunch, before she disappeared ... sigh ...

Nardo Sancue from Canada writes: I am one of those tourists that wish I could live in New York City, it is the greatest city in the world, it gives me a rush just to be there when I visit. I really do love NY. As for the show, my wife and my daughter have been watching it non-stop for two or three weeks, and I do stop and watch a bit; I didn't realize that it can be funny.

Nardo Sancue from Canada writes: Holy smoke, I hadn't read all the comments. All I can say is that the first four commenters need a life, and it sounds that they need some roughage in their diet. If you're not interested, don't comment. Of course the show is a fantasy, which one isn't? But the few ones I have caught with my wife and my daughter have been entertaining, and sometimes funny. And as I said before, I think NYC is great! the greatest city in the world. The song is right: these little town blues, are melting away... if I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere... it is true.

Stephen Bosch from Calgary, Alberta, Canada writes: New York is a very cool city, but it's not for everyone. It's a tough place to have an average income, and it's a tough place to be over 35 unless you're super loaded and can afford some comforts.
I like to visit -- but after 5 days, I'm exhausted and ready for a rest. The place is relentless. And why shouldn't it be? 8 million people crammed into a space smaller than Calgary.
There are other exciting, cosmopolitan, and culturally rich cities in the world that are a lot more humane. Like Berlin, for example.- Posted 19/06/08 at 11:21 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Jimmy VanDino from Eastern Canada, writes: What's is it about SaTC that makes guys so bitter and nasty? I've heard more derogatory comments about this show from men than need be. What is it about this TV show about women for women that threatens you so much? Hint guys: it's not for you...and it's ok to admit you don't 'get it'...that doesn't mean it's a bad show or the cause of the decline of Western Civilization.
