'There's nothing more. The town is dying'
MACKENZIE, B.C. — In this once-thriving forest town hewed out of the northern B.C. wilderness in the 1960s, Gurdip Singh is Everyman.
Like so many others, attracted by high-paying jobs at Mackenzie's two pulp mills and numerous sawmills, Mr. Singh moved here, built a home, raised his family and planned to retire in a community he had grown to love for its small-town lifestyle.
Those dreams are over.
