A Smith from Toronto, Canada writes: John, I hear what you're saying, but I think that you misunderstand the obsession. You are what is called a reader. You love to read for the ideas, the stories, the characters. Torosian creates books for bibliophiles. While most bibliophiles are avid readers, they also share an obsessive love of the object itself, that which conveys the story. They love the smell, feel and look of books. They are interested in age, provenance, and font, and amass large collections. If you've ever gone into a truly antiquarian bookstore, you might have been momentarily arrested by the beauty of the old leather bound volumes, and gotten a brief taste of the fascination.

If it turns your craw that much, why are you reading the paper? Think about it. You are supporting something that you dislike. Why not support something that you do like? I don't understand your masochism.- Posted 17/05/08 at 11:48 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
