Williams Lake, B.C. The B.C. government has made its biggest-ever seizure of a property that housed a marijuana grow-op, taking ownership of a pot operation capable of producing a whopping 22,000 plants a year.
Solicitor General John van Dongen says the B.C. Supreme Court recently ordered the property near Williams Lake, B.C., forfeited to the province to be sold.
In November 2006, RCMP discovered 5,566 pot plants in a house and two adjacent buildings.
Nearly every room was modified with extensive, unapproved wiring installed to power high-intensity lamps, creating serious safety issues.
RCMP Constable Craig Douglass says the grow-op was capable of producing one marijuana cigarette for every person in the province over the course of a year.
In the last two years, the B.C. government has seized over $4-million in cash, vehicles and valuable property involving marijuana grow-ops.
