Police officers lobby for safe injection site

Law-enforcement officers from Australia, England and Canada were on Parliament hill on Tuesday to urge Health Minister Tony Clement and the federal Conservatives to continue support for Vancouver's safe-injection site. The facility, known as Insite, is exempt from existing drug laws as part of a five-year-old experiment to provide addicts in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside a safe place to shoot up. A detox centre is attached to the facility for addicts who want to seek help.
