Sev Scott from Calgaristan, Canada writes: 54 murders a day and 151 rapes a day in this cesspool. Now just 42 in 2 days? What is the story?
It is terrible, no doubt. When I was in Durban in December (on my boat, thank goodness), FIFA roared in for the World Cup Draw. There were police on every corner and guess what, everyone was safe for a cweek (except for the golfer at Port Shepstone 30 miles West who was murdered while playing golf; and that Sep Blatter, Pres of FIFA tossed off as being, "one of those things that happen in big cities").
Seriously, most have no idea what it is like there. I was there for four months and I knew, personally knew, 3 people murdered randomly. In Canada I know of none. You have to purchase a car based upon its highjackability; you do not use your cell phone in public and you do not stop at red lights at night.
This was the jewel of Africa and now it is a cesspool. Think very carefully about going to the World Cup.- Posted 22/05/08 at 3:38 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

"Immigration Canada must let in 250,000 people from SA at once or we will be seen as being racist...."
Is this an exaggeration?- Posted 22/05/08 at 5:15 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Journey Man from Ontario, Canada writes: My brother just returned from SA on a project. He is a senior welding inspector and he travels all over the world on projects (and makes a huge salary guy who was only educated at college).
He told me that SA is the most dangerous country that he has ever been in. One of the guests was murdered by robbers in the floor below him at a "nice" hotel, and you neever, ever stop for traffic lights. Armed guards were with him at all times when out.
You couldn't pay me enough to go there.- Posted 22/05/08 at 5:51 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Chris E. from vancouver, Canada writes: Once while visiting Cape Town I began walking alone in a direction that would have taken me through a mixed-race section. A white car driver pulled over and gave me a lift, rightly guessing that I didn't know the danger I was putting myself in. Being white makes you a target.
Google South African crime or watch it on Youtube, to get an idea of what it's like there.- Posted 22/05/08 at 9:57 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment

Frank Lee My Dears I Don't Give A Damn from Trawana, Canada writes:
'Civil liberties' groups bray loudly when man-boy love groups are prosecuted. They scream loudly when some fringe sect is 'persecuted'. But their silence in this case points out the hypocrisy of these so-called 'civil libertarians'.
I guess, in their eyes, blacks murdering blacks is righteous? Shame. The silence from their elite corner of the world is deafening.- Posted 22/05/08 at 11:49 PM EDT | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment
