Egad! An unabashed shot of the Toronto skyline in a feature film? Alert the festivals, administer CPR to the culturati - we must be entering a new phase of national cinematic self-assuredness.
Thankfully, in conversation, director Ed Gass-Donnelly plays down the Toronto-ness of his movie. The city, or more precisely his neighbourhood, West Queen West, is itself a central character in his first feature, This Beautiful City.
