Ontario woman, 20, conquers Everest
It wasn't the blowing snow, bitter cold or dangerously thin atmosphere that stood between Laura Mallory and the final 1,000 metres to the peak of Mount Everest, but a stomach infection.
While the 20-year-old Barrie, Ont., native recovered at the camp this week, Ms. Mallory's father, Dan, 57, and brothers, Adam, 25, and Alan, 23, continued on. They successfully reached the summit of the 8,850-metre mountain Sunday night.
