Toronto poised to award contract for wireless water meters
After years of delays and setbacks, the days of Toronto's human water-meter readers may finally be numbered, as the city is poised to award a $219-million contract to install new wireless meters in every home.
"It's the old-fashioned way, just like the milkman used to come to your house, the water-meter man used to come to your house and still does today," said Glenn De Baeremaeker, the Scarborough city councillor who chairs council's works committee.
