A jingle, not an anthem

It is too bad that talks appear to have broken down between the CBC and the composer of the Hockey Night in Canada theme song. Insofar as it has served as incidental music to some great hockey over four decades, the ditty has nostalgia going for it. But the suggestion that it is Canada's unofficial national anthem is foolish and demeaning to Canadians. Any advertising jingle, if played often enough, will bore its way into your head.
