Alex MacLean from Toronto, Canada writes: The tragic consequences of the belief that we can continue to grow the economy exponentially is evident in the swath of destruction cut across the world in the last few hundred years. There is no 'green growth.' To see the current wave of concern about environmental destruction as a economic growth opportunity is cynical beyond belief. We are spending down the earth's natural capital at an alarming rate, and 'green' business ideology is a diversion from the need to start stabilizing and retreating from the edge of this precipice of our own making. The path we are on simply isn't sustainable, and this is just more shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic.
